Listening to 3AW and John Anderson this morning made me angry, frustrated and delighted.

He mentioned that the Wiz Cup GF meant more to Carlton when you consider where we have come from in the past 2-3 years. He then went on to say how hurt we have been in relation to the draft. The 2 players that came to his mind – WELLS & GODDARD!!!

flower, how much does that hurt!

Geez, we have come such a long way. Thanks Denis and the Recruiting Team, your ability to find talent has been extraordinary. But how much better would we have been!!!

Thanks Jack, Andrew and the AFL!!! I could just SCREAM!!!

I’d rather of had a $5Million fine than lose the likes of those 2 budding champions!!!

IT JUST HURTS SO flower MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Please win on Saturday guys – just to ease the gaping wound I have in my heart!!

Yes it hurts but now its just a dull ache. Time to focus on our young kids who are going to become true blue champions and there is nothing Dimwit and Spotless Ron can do about it.

Laguna, never forgive, never forget - what Demetrispew, Evans, Jackson and the Commission did to our club on Black Friday 2002.

Someday, somewhere, somehow - these bastards will get the treatment they deserve.

I dont think I'll forgive or forget untill Goddard and Wells are no longer playing. Every time I hear either has gone well it burns a hole in me. Nothing whatsoever against those two boys, good luck to them.

They kill me, those boys. Hearing their names kills me. I can't help but like watching them though. What's going on with me. I wish them the best because they should be blueboys. But they're not. Goddards great and Wells is a gun and they should be with us. But they're not and it's killing me. And will do so for another decade.

Am I pathetic for thinking that they'll one day realise they should be Blue and sneak over to join us. They'll mature, they'll see the error of their ways.

Goddard and Wells would have been ncie to have on the list but in a way the next premeirship will be more satisying as we will have done it the hard way and it will be a star team that wins the flag rather than a team of stars....

re: Goddard...been a bit dissapointing IMHO....good player but no superstar like Judd or Reiwoldt, maybe his off field problems have not helped him but I dont think he is the gun that he was made out to be and when I watched him recently he looked like he had bulked up to the stage where he has lost pace and he looked very slow and cumbersome.
re: Wells.....bit of a cameo goalkicker when he first started but now appears to be capable of playing on the ball and is a very polished player who you would reckon may snag a Brownlow at some stage....probably a bigger loss than Goddard...

you can throw in a tenace and a couple of other later picks. but to be honest, i am over it and goddard and wells are just names of impressive young players, but so are walker, waite, norman, fisher etc etc, and we may never have given these players a chance if we didnt get those penatlties.

i'm glad it's happend in someways as the blood has been spilt and we can start fresh again and build back up on our own feet, growing and nuturing our own crop of stars.

the future looks bright and thats all that should matter now.

i still hate the AFL though!

Goddard is 3 years younger than Judd and Riewoldt - not a fair comparison.

I think there are definately some positives to come from those dark times we are now emerging from. I heard someone say once when referring to a massive crisis ....THE PAIN NEVER REALLY GOES AWAY...YOU JUST GET USED TO IT.

Carlton (and it's supporters) have always been considered as SILVER SPOONS etc. The club that won premierships because we had the money to buy players etc etc.

We still have a long road ahead...but we are emerging from the depths of doom and finally we all know that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't that of a train coming toward us.

How will the so called pundits look at us When our mighty club has reached the success we are striving for...What names will they call us then? With pure GENIUS from Denis and a new sense of commitment from our team..the Carlton Football Club will have added a new dimension to it's history...a dimension that the football world will have no choice but to admire!

I want them all to eat a big peice of humble pie!!!

Whenever I think of G&W I think how bloody lucky we were to snaffle Nick Stevens, I mean we could have ended up with Jade Rawlings!

The hurt of Black Friday is starting to dull and by now G & W are just two talented young players with a small asterisk next to their names. Like Camel I'm thinking of how lucky we are to have Stevens, Walker, Teague, Scotland, Chambers etc, etc. If there is anything good to come from the ashes of Black Friday it was that in some ways the opportunities available made Carlton a more attractive place for quality players looking for a second chance.

Goddard and Wells are primed to be superstars but in different ways. Wells well be very explosive and Goddard will be ready to bust a few heads this year. I will never forget that they were supposed to be in navy blue  .The fact that we got AW makes up for it - a bit.

When the club were formed we were considered anything but the silver spoon set. Its because of our success that we earned the silver spoon title.

The opposition thinks we are Arrogant. Thats because they are ignorant. Were not arrogant we are PROUD. Becuase we are proud we will not lay down and die we will fight our way back to the top. Im proud of the way this club has fought back so far and am positive that we will be back sooner than anyone thought possible.

EB I think Elwoods comparison is pretty fair. When Riewoldt was Goddard's age he'd won a b&f and Judd was 3rd at 19. It's probably unfair as they are probably the two standout draftees over the past 6 or 7 years. I certainly am more disappointed about Wells than Goddard. It is also the later picks we missed. When you think Nick Stevens was 25, Black 31, Goodes 44, maybe we would have aplayer or two of that calibre. But on the other side, we have finally started to recruit well, and are still paying for some abysmal recruiting in the late 90s.

As someone else said if we can win a flag with this group in the next few years it will really stick it up all those carlton haters.

Camelboy, I thought the same thing after Saturday night's game. I remember praying leading up to the PSD of 2003 that the Doggies would stay true to their word and pick up Jade. I remember Rhode saying that Jade Rawlings was a long way ahead of Nick Stevens so far as the Bulldogs were concerned. Perhaps in the end, the decision for them was based more on financial considerations but I think nabbing Nick Stevens went a huge way to making up for some of the sanctions. Also agree with EB that Brendon Goddard has been pretty disappointing to date and it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to playing with the additional bulk.

Instead of dwelling on losing Wells and Goddard we should be concentrating on the progress we are making without them.
I know personally that when I see either of them play that I don't give it a second thought. It's done and dusted.

Conversely wouldn't it be nice if Livo can carve out a career that has Saints fans thinking in a couple of years "Gee, if only we'd hung onto pick 4 instead of trading for that bloke Hamill, that Livingston is a fine full-back". That's the attitude I like to have.

We've done well out of low picks- Houlihan, Fisher, Norman in 70's, Thornton rookie.

We've also traded well. St K must be kicking themselves for giving us Lappin for next to nothing. Teague + Digby and we got rid of McKernan (who's now past it I think), as well as the guys we picked up last year.

I think Stevens more than make's up for any draft pick we lost. Goddard was said at the time to be a player who wouldn't settle into on position. He ws a true utility. He's a good player, but some clever recruiting of CHambers etc. makes up for it. Wells will be the one we'll ultimately miss.

I agree it hurts to see those 2 players at other clubs, but there is probably a good chance that had we got them, we may have missed on Stevens and Walker. So I am not that fussed any longer.
