Don't you all find it interesting that there's only 1 team worth supporting... and we support it?

God knows what life must be like following one of those other clubs.

They'll just never get it..........

Seriously, try and imagine barracking for Melbourne, or St.Kilda, or bloody the Bulldogs or one of those loser teams...... you can't even imagine it!

Born to rule, people.

spot on. what's the point of them? I don't really get it.

Call me old fashioned, but all other clubs don't have enough "Carlton" to be interesting to me.

I just wonder - well, not really :) – what it would be like to support:

Melbourne – last flag 1964
Geelong – last flag 1963
Sydney/South Melbourne – last flag 1933 (is there anyone alive who remembers seeing it?)
St. Kilda (1966) and Bulldogs (1954) – 1 flag each for f***’s sake!
Collingwood – 1 flag in 46 years (I REPEAT, 1 FLAG IN 46 F***ING YEARS!! – what a joke!)

I’m getting itchy pants and it’s only been 10 years for us. That’s far too long for my liking – bring on 2006/2007 and get some normality back to life.

Great Topic. I have been following Carlton since 1966 and I am totally perplexed as to why anyone would want to support a team other than The Navy Blue. :D

I was looking at BW Tv sometime in 1964 on channel 7 where Ron Barassi - then from Melb had a football clinic going.

Followed and Admired Ron more than a team, but later that year the thought dawned on this 6 year old that I really needed to select a team to go for.

In 1964 or 5 Ron moved to Carlton.

Was it to be Melbourne or was it to be Carlton?

I chose the blues, mainly due to a great scanlens footy card with Ron in a Carlton jumper scooping up a white footy in what must have been a night match or something.

Thats one of the best choices I ever made in my life.

I am the fourth boy in a family where we all had different footy teams - thats what happens when a rugby family is transplanted into a southern state. I think they all picked teams based on colours etc.

Come 1981 and little molsey hadn't yet picked a team. But the Collingwood fan brother (incidentally, the good one) was gunning for me to join him as a Pies fan. Still hadn't succumbed to the pressure come grand final day ... and well, what can I say... I went with the winners instead.

Living in Sydney 1999-2003 proved a tough period, no real footy news, and yearning to be back with the game. Yes, I guess it shielded me from 2002, but the pain could not be shared with anyone (other than a goon named Dan who would come up every now & again to fill me in on how shizen we actually were)...

I come from true Blue Stock - my family always barracked for the blues.

Others changed teams looking for their team, but never a blueboy.

As Bruce Dawe put it, I've been wrapped in blue swaddling since I was born.

Now I'm passing it on to my girls, involving them in the way of the Blues.

I'm only pissed about two things:

1. Port Adelaide having a better record against us than we do against them; and

2. That F@&*%*%?!! wooden spoon.

It's been the greatest pleasure and privelege to sing that song soooo many times.

Go Blue boys.

It was love.

My father's father barracked for Essendon*, his mother for Collingwood - needless to say Dad was a lost soul torn between two pillars so evil they should be torn down by a Goliath - and were continually by Carlton.

Then from Tassie to Victoria dad's family came in search and dad found mum. Only one problem. My maternal grandfather was so Carlton he would not even let dad in the house.

Now dad was a smart man, he never cared for Essendon* nor for Collingwood but he loved mum and so he gave his heart to the Navy Blues. Once the choice was made he succumbed completely, his heart so blue that each Saturday it bled or sang depending on the fortunes of his beloved bluebaggers. Then came Big Nick and the rest, as they say, is history.

As for why others follow other teams, same as why there is fluff in your belly button, or ear wax or flies or the common cold or a smell to farts.... No reason at all, there just is.

I've been following Carlton for ever and I feel more sorry for St Kilda about the deluded trolls on Saintsational more than anything.
Grant Thomas super coach, Koshit All Australian ruckman, Ackland a champ, McGough a great kick, Fiora will play every game and they pinched Gwilt from us if you listen to them. Shame we traded the prospective Gwilt pick once we realised a more talented player in Chambers was available.

I could understand supporting Melbourne and Bulldogs and Kangaroos, understand supporting Essendon*, Richmond, Collingwood.

However I'd be suicidal if I went for the basketcases Geelong and St Kilda. Being surrounded by scum supporters and idiotic coaches and with PATHETIC histories and players such as Hamill, Scarlett and Milburn on their teams currently

Summed it up brilliantly Tyrant! :D Not only was I moved by that post, but I got movement as well! 8)

It's like knowing something, or being part of something, that you know is SPECIAL and for some reason, everybody else isn't aware of. You think to yourself: how can I see this and they can't.... you ask yourself: what the hell is wrong with them? Consider the fluky randomness of picking 1 out of 16 teams to follow... and then Karma deeming that that one team you pick would be a team like The Blues! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! To Whoever or Whatever it was that made me pick the Navy Blues as my team. THANK YOU!! That feeling of knowing the team you chose is the best .... and will always be the best. @#$%&! it's an awesome feeling!!! And thank god for Black Friday- in hindsight it will ultimately be a blessing in disguise. It is the means by which we will prove to One and All how superior we really are. The Best will always rise above anything and everything that gets in it’s way. It is a fundamental law of nature... there is no stopping it… and this we will prove. Black Friday will be the tool that teaches them a lesson they will never, ever forget: "You don't mess with the Mighty Blues and get away with it! You will always pay in the end because there is only One Team that can be the best…. and Destiny has already forewritten that that team is Carlton. “ Make no mistake, we have the makings of a premiership team and we will win our next flag much sooner than they could have ever hoped or imagined. And when that day comes, they will look at us with awe and fear and envy… and wonder what cruel hand of fate made them barrack for any other team.

Carlton: Born to Rule them all!! God I love being a Carlton supporter!!!! :D :D :D

As a lad growing up in Tassie, one of my stars from my home town in played with Carlton (Berkley Cox) and then when Brent Crosswell arrived in for the '68 flag ,there was no question from then on!
GO BLUES!!!

Thats not the best bit - ask them where they finished in:

1955 - 1956 - 1960 - 1964 - 1966 - 1970 - 1977 - 1979 - 1980 - 1981 - 2001 - 2002.
