This will be interesting. Port are shit at the moment but would have been expecting an easy kill. We may have a letdown after the emotional week this week, but may surprise.

Kemp had a horrible game aside from that fluke goal, I'd drop him and bring in moir or derkson. I'd give jagga a spell too, but lord will miss with concussion. Acres deserves a game too

Hollands played through an ankle injury so he may need a week off and Acres could get his chance

We shouldnt be bringing in guys like Acres, we need to keep on playing the younger guys for the season.

I would like to see what the Campo’s bring. Flynn young,

I like Acres a lot, but this needs to be a development and rest time till the end of the year now.

I know i want to win every game. I just loves last night so much. I screamed like an idiot. But we need to plan for the future.

Not sure they're going poorly. Beat GC on expected score; lost to Hawthorn by 3, WBD by 2 and Adelaide by 1.

Percentage always tells the story at this time of year. Port are at 105% despite a W3L7 record, so they're better than you think, just as we are (and have been) clearly better than WCE * Rich despite cohabiting the bottom 4.

McGovern was quite a bit worse than Kemp, and I am not sure Haynes has another effort like that in him and could do with a rest.

I’d bring in Moir for McGovern, and consider Derksen for Haynes. Haynes is better and more experienced than Derksen but is looking a bit ragged.

I like the way we “rested” Cripps in the forward line for most of the match and kept him fresh for the last, it also made our onball cohort more agile. I could be wrong but it also seemed having Cripps in the fwd line meant we let Harry do more ruck work, which also rested a Pittonet more?

Lewis Young still ahead of Derk for me but specific role could make a difference

I don’t want to risk upsetting Weitering by playing Lewis in defence.

I think this game is all about us presenting Zac Butters a compelling case for him to join us next year . At least knock 'em off on there own dunghill and it might start him thinking .

Is Butters the missing piece?
Id Butters our most pressing need?

How much do you think Butters will be paid in his next contract?
At least $1.5M. Consensus is $2M. Both, too much.

We could add some class to the following group.

Cripps Hewett Lord
Walker Smith
Cerra

32yo Williams $900K and contract ends

Cowan? I reckon he'd make a great mid, but his performance yesterday at HB was brilliant. Tassie will target him with ample $$$
Ben Campo? Will he make it? Will he join Lord to replace 31yo Cripps and 29yo Hewett

I get the feeling we can find a great mid to add for around $750K, and mids are easier to find than a good mobile ruck (to replace TDK) or KPF (to replace Curnow and McGovern) ie more pressing priorities than Butters imo.

Lets put on a show regardless. Play well. Play to win. See what happens.

Derk forward, I reckon. Let's see if he can kick straight in the big leagues.

No reason to play him down back unless we have injuries.

Yeah I reckon we're pretty even with Port and we've tended to match up well. Interesting game despite the ladder positions.

Yes. We need a key forward that can kick straight. Imagine if we had someone like Gunston in our side.

Gunston wouldn't get a kick at Carlton
We couldn't hit up his leads

Thought last weeks game was pretty much the same old style, which was expected time wise.
Bulldogs were ripe for the taking with no ruckman and allowed us to dominate clearances.

Our foward line in particular needs to work better in creating space. We know we need to use outside runners like Walsh, Smith, Carroll, Ollie, Williams, Ison, Ainsworth, Florent, Cowan, etc. Hope to start seeing some minor tweaks this week and progressing to add a more open game style.

Next 3 weeks is a good opportunity for this group to get at least another couple of wins.

Port are playing an exceptional season for a team that wants to finish as low as possible

The Walker-Cochrane Cup??

I think this is a big opportunity for us. I wouldn't be dropping Kemp. He has had a couple of ordinary games so he is probably due for his good monthly game this week :-).
I do think we should bring in a few more of the younger players but we don't need to do it all in one go.
