Hawk defenders had a picnic.

Carlton had more inside 50s.

Fought it out but just not good enough in all facets of the game. Farewell Doc.

HOF pretty good. Dear outmarked him a bit but he's going to outmark lots of defenders.

They came out hard in the first qtr and we dropped our heads straight away.
Then just held us at arms length.

I know there are good reasons for not blowing up the joint but I’m leaning towards the nuclear option.

Just to keep me interested really.

Game was over 10 mins in. In Docs last game and Weiters 200th. An absolute indictment on all our players AND coaches.

The club is materially broken.

Such a contrast between a well drilled, well coached, well skilled, excellent running side and a rabble.

The sooner GW bulldozes through the entire joint the better.

All the players happy smiling in the rooms
After losing by 4 goals and never looked like it
What a great club

They are clearly better than us and won comfortably, but Hawthorn is a very cynical side: lots of throwing, dumping players without the ball, pushing into behind posts, elbows into ribs, knees into backs, not manning the mark correctly... we got plenty of frees but Hawthorn dares the umpires to give 50 frees a game and they inevitably cave.

Great game from HOF. Hewett very good as usual. Possibly Will White's best game for us, maybe his papers aren't quite stamped. Moir all class in first half but the second passed him by. Ollie, Acres OK. "Leaders" no good.

Fogarty and White were having a chuckle at half time. Love to see them try and do that when George Harris was president.

Yep. Weiters into the behind post was in the first couple of minutes.

Of course we didn't remonstrate and if we did it probs would have been a free against us - but I'd cop that.

Probably one of the worst 4 goal losses in the history of the game.

Almost as shameful as our drubbing against GWS when they played us with 16 men.

Unpopular opinion? The Docherty stuff during the week was miles over the top. This playing group has spent so much time with people blowing smoke up their arses, they've become the champions of me/me/me.
Same as Cripps again wanting to take the ruck constantly when there's a tall there to compete so he can get a possession. Give me a break.
I watched the Evans hit again and whilst Fogarty went into remonstrate with May, (one of the smallest blokes in our team!) Cripps turned his back and walked away. WTF is that from a supposed leader?

This playing group needs an almighty shake up. I don't know how many times I saw Cooper Lord make an option to only be ignored by the senior players.
Too many blokes playing for themselves instead of the team. It needs to be sorted out now before it infects the younger blokes as well.
Total change of leadership. Cripps, Charlie. Take responsibility away from them. They'll probably enjoy the freedom anyway. Give Nic Newman the captaincy/Walsh vice for 12 months and then make Walsh captain. His injuries are a concern but he's the only one who seems to live or die by the results.

The biggest red flag for me and it has been for a while? The blokes who really buy into team footy are the ones who came from other clubs. Haynes, Newman, Fogarty, Pittonet, Williams, Cerra, Hewett, Evans. And the young blokes. The ones who haven't been tainted by the selfishness and ego of the other senior players or learnt what team values are elsewhere.

Some posters blame Voss but the same players have been serving up the same selfish shit for years. It's cultural. Marc Murphy, Patrick Cripps. Can you see them challenging a team mate and demanding better? It's a bit hard when you're one of the biggest culprits yourself. This group needs a bomb up there arses and I hope Voss gets the green light to do so.
He's stuck by them for 4 years and they've served up the same shit they have for previous coaches. Hopefully he sees that they cant be trusted and he puts a broom through them. If he doesn't have the courage to do it, get someone in who will.

We've got a lot of good young blokes coming through. HOF was very good, Cowan, Carroll and Lord give 100%. Add in Dean, O'Keefe, Walker, Jagga etc. If it's not stopped now, they'll be infected by the same entitled shit that permeates through the group. Time for serious movement.

You don’t believe Voss should be setting the standard for all to follow BV? The coach needs to be able to control the culture, else you get the players running the show like Saints disco days……

The culture has been in the toilet for 20 years Surrey.
As I've said previously, as an incoming coach, Voss was fully entitled to trust the playing group and give them a chance to prove themselves. He has seen now that they will let you down repeatedly. Bringing in another coach just repeats the process. Wright, Priestley and Voss need to be on the same page from now on. Ruthless, tough and uncompromising. Our players need a bit of shit in them. Like Hawthorn do.
That wont happen with the hand holding team leadership we currently have.

IMO, he didn’t make the right calls that should have been made earlier this year or even late last year with selections. I feel he had plenty of time. He needed to make a statement with a senior or 2 and set the standards. I’ve said it all along, some of our seniors are embarrassing when it comes to pressure, accountability and game sense. Yet, our coaches keep doing the same things over and over again.

I expect changes to the coaching team but if Voss stays, then I fear we will get the same. I could be wrong, but a coach that can’t control, adapt, change and evolve is not a premiership coach. Will be interesting to watch what unfolds over the next 12 months with or without Voss.

BV so true.

The first quarter was the biggest disappointment for me. Doc farewell/Retirement, Weiters 200th, really thought we would come out breathing fire and play so accordingly.

Of course, that didn't happen. Our history in "milestone" games isn't great. Why is that so? We are talking about moments in time here where different coaches and playing list around those, "milestone" players have occurred. So it can't be put down to the supposed angst which reportedly exists within some in the playing group, and or the coach - Voss?

Looking to the future and on a positive note - HOF and White have showed some. Lets hope they and oher "kids" fill the big void which remains under our so called top 4, 5 or 6 players....

We have no leadership. The problem is Voss the coach and Cripps the captain. Neither has demanded high standards.

So the entitled ones primarily Cripps, Curnow, McKay and TDK play lazy, unaccountable footy watching opposition players run straight past them and kicking or handpassing without caring where the ball went. That sets the standard and the others follow.

Their pay should be performance based.
