The Geelong post game thread had @#$%&! all posts
Now I understand the saying “ The one thing constant is change”
Sometimes for a crusty set in his ways prick like me that can be hard to accept

Yes people get old their life changes and for whatever reason they stop posting
I loved Talking Carlton ten years ago
Not so much these days
Obviously YouTube and podcasts have sucked the life out of this site to a large degree
Now I have watched a few of these guys on my phone
My personal view
Is it the sore ankle podcast I like him because like me he is negative yeah
But he is watchable entertaining
I like his passion
My Blue Heaven
Yeah Nah like his passion but a bit of a wanker
Pommy goes alright but a bit intense
The jumper punch
How boring Vince is ok the rest just a bunch of whinging whining blokes complaining over and over abundantly take away food in front of them
Blue Abroad
No way would I buy a $60 hoodie from this bloke
He is like half our list
Vanilla
But hey
Everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame
My preference Talking Carlton
It has lost that community spirit
Yes I use that term loosely when you disagree vehemently with someone
But hey to me it’s fun
I don’t have to be seen and make some cheap dollars by hitting that old subscribe button
Call me old school and outdated but I’m not going to anywhere

I"m gonna hang around . Lot of great posters who know there stuff . In fact I would say most of the posters on this site are very knowledgable on not just footy but life in general . Shame the numbers have diminished I must admit .

I haven't listened to all those pods, but I found Jumper Punch unlistenable (you have to let people speak, don't interrupt or talk over one another) and Blue Abroad boring.

The Ian Prendercast is by far the best I've heard. Guys who can tell a story and have strong opinions articulated in a relatable way.

Almost Blue Brothers is OK. I skip over the filler - don't care what you did on the weekend - but they mostly stay focused on the game. Energetic, passionate, sometimes talk over each other.

Navy Blue Corner is an occasional listen. A tad vanilla but I like their earnest passion.

I've been here about 10 years so maybe I missed the best, or cause the decline. I think there's still plenty of interesting contributors. Moshe and Blue Sombrero were big losses. Sad that we don't hear from tommi any more, too, but glad to hear he's battling away.

Never going to join twitter/X, bluesy, whatever. I was banned from truth social for being too right wing. So I hope TC never ends.

I’m travelling atm and having a couple

I read TC everyday, but when travelling or plain busy I don’t post.
and I know there’s plenty of readers who don’t post too.
I’ve met them at Carlton functions.

I really don’t think about numbers of participants, I read the content and respect it for what it says. I agree or I don’t. TC provide me with plenty quality Carlton content.

When Carlton hit the bottom of the barrel, my first experience of a wooden spoon happened. First in 150 years and unprecedented unfair penalties that would’ve killed off half the AFL teams.

I found TC and othe sites. There was plenty of despair and need connect to our blue brethren. Looking back because there was so much content to consume I made a commitment to keep my posting to one site. No doubt the best content back then was TC, Plenty was achieved and I thank the creators and collaborators who wanted to make Carlton great again.

I think the quality and diversity is still here at TC. It’s more boutique. BF , BA etc is a lot of content, and does suck up heaps of time. Lucky these days I have heaps of time, and no time. I even have a nephew who runs one of those YouTube channels, and that sucks out a few hours a week of my viewing time.

Nah, I don’t think TC is in demise. TC has less participants that it’s peak days but there’s plenty of good analysis, strong opinions, and football people, young and old. I retired young and still partying 10 years later but I’m still connected somewhat with all of them whether I post or not. Viewers play different roles

. We are time poor, and I wouldn’t call it a demise. The market has broadened and TC is a segment of that, not the biggest, but arguably the best. TC is a slice of a big cake.

I’ll keep posting whilst you’re still posting Go Blues

I also follow all the old TCers aka Blue View mob over at BF. We are all part of the Same navy blue community.

I’m thirsty now. Onya

I find most people are just plain exhausted by the hot and cold aspects of this team and CBF anymore. It will turn once the team is a legitimate contender and not a pretender.

I can’t remember when I joined these forums, especially TBV. It’s been so long.
Truthfully, I’ve thought about not posting, but I just can’t look away, and get dragged back in.
It’s now become a big part of life for me and I can’t wait to read what some posters have to say.
Having said that, the passion and positive attitude I once had, has been drained. I get angry for about a day after a loss and not a week, as it once was.
I have no comfort we will go back to what we were. That reason alone, is why I feel posting has diminished, and I believe some have gone.

The club is such a big part in some people’s lives, that once it loses its attraction, people lose interest.
People don’t feel like they are part of the club anymore. No home ground is a big part of this, that is probably just my old age mentality, however the CFC social club after a win - felt like home!!

That's a good point. Although I don't think it's dying here.

When I joined in 2010 I didn't think I would still be waiting for a flag in 2025....

We've got an ageing list, without a lot of young posters coming through

That's the reality though....we've all aged with the site & there hasn't been a lot of re-gen over the last 15 years, given the rise of social media, & other avenues for younger people to get their non mainstream footy media fix.

TC's golden era was funnily enough probably when we were the worst Carlton side ever, the 2000s. Because there were a lot of younger folk & also much more women than there are here today.

Even though they're all really awesome in their own way, now it's mainly grumpy old bastards like Syd & Cazzes

Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'll be here for good

My 2 cents

Sadly our world now runs on anger.................I'm not saying I run on anger. I don't think I do............Actually I probably run on frustration, disappointment and sadness that the world runs on anger and selfishness.

After last week's Carlton vs Geelong game, which I attended, I came away feeling very upbeat at what I saw. 1 week later, I was frustrated, disappointed and sad because I knew how TC would react to the performance.

I don't want to become that fickle, so my following of CFC now takes on a familiar route.

I don't watch the game live, unless I actually go to the game, which is less and less. I have Kayo. If we win, I watch the replay, and if we lose, I don't watch the game. I find the disappointment of a poor performance is much more bearable if I live in denial and don't see it with my own eyes.

I really think the 10 years with the Club burned me out. It made me jaded to the opinions of people who don't know what is going on behind closed doors. I'm not saying what is/was going on behind closed doors was/is all fine and dandy. In my 10 years, it never was.

But TC is just a group of folk standing outside the door of the 'Room Where It Happens'. I am part of that group, and I just accept that I don't have enough data to really make any informed decisions. As I result I simple live by the Win/Loss column.

We all want to be here for a good time, but sadly, those times can be few and far between, hence the tendency to anger.

I aim to be rational and not get angry at things I have zero control over. Which is ironic because I find ranting against the current President of the USA very cathartic. Strange days.

Regards Cazzesman

for me I really struggle to post nowadays - mind you I'm also not writing anymore, just meditating, catching up with friends or family, and a lot of reading.
When i go to post I see how it can become an argument so i just delete the post, not really interested in arguing. So many many times I have started top post and then deleted it.

I keep telling myself to lift my game but in the end I just read this site every single day but hardly post.

It’s not so much dying but rather the engagement levels have dipped. 4 pages of content after the Geelong win is poor engagement.

Talking Carlton needs a 'like' button. Then it will become a destination forum for good young posters.

Not sure how much it relates to the proliferation of podcasts, (I really only listen to Ian Prendacast, Pommy and the Blue Pod)

Even though I have rarely posted, I've been a fan of TC for a long time.

In the past TC was my first port of call after a game for what I thought was some seriously good source of technical footy, I enjoyed discussions around player drafting time and junior development prospects. Ok, the Administration related talks were always a bit politicised (and we had a fairly heavy period there for a while about fishes rotting from heads...- I still wonder whatever happened to Synbad. I rated his input except when he got on his Board soap box)

Ultimately, this place had plenty of worthwhile insights and provided constructive and appropriate critique (good and bad).

But these days, to the point made earlier, I'm not sure where the Carlton-related enthusiasm has gone (there are barely any pages when we win well or lose badly). There are also not many ITK posters anymore (have they jumped over to BF?).

On quite a few days, even during the season, I can look at the list on the active topics page and see more on politics and politically motivated topics. Initially, this was interesting, but my personal take is that it has now become a boring ping-pong slog between some pretty polarising and stale posters.

Dare I say, I tend to get more insight and energy from BF these days, which is a shame. So, if you asked me whether TC is dying, I don't necessarily think so and am happy to stand corrected, but it does seem to be a little bit self-serving to its own madding crowd.

This wasn't meant to offend anyone managing the site, would just love to see it get its footy vibe back ..
