MCG
Tigers home game.

Definite out injured: N.Newman, J. Smith, A. Cincotta, C. Durdin
Possible Out injured : C. Curnow

Depth players Injured: O'Keefe, B.Camporeale, Duffy Monohan

B: Haynes Weitering Cowan
HB: Saad Silvagni O. Hollands
C: Acres Cripps Cottrell
R: De Koning Hewett Cerra
HF: Walsh Kemp E.Hollands
F: Williams McKay Fantasia

I: Docherty, Young, McGovern/ Boyd, Camporeale

Sub from: Motlop, Fogarty Lord, McGovern/ Boyd

If Charlie Curnow is fit, Young is demoted to Sub or Emergency. Curnow and Kemp KPF targets when Harry rucks. Young, Kemp, Gov Silvagni are our swingmen.
Williams, Walsh, Fantasia, Docherty E.Hollands go through the midfield. Williams and Doc can swing back if needed.

Whilst TDK rucked most game against GWS, I felt he was labouring to get in position a kick behind play down the line. Feel we need to rotate him more during quarters (twice, not once) to be fresher and get to more contests around the ground during the quarter. Took a great mark, the only time he really went back to give the Defenders support. More of that would be great. We all know he could be dangerous sneaking into the forward line.

Gov injured his ankle going up in the ruck. Hate seeing Cripps in the ruck due to necessity. Don't mind him rucking when he thinks the time is right though; ie a mismatch.

I thought Elijah was harder at the contest and pressured more when in the forward line than Motlop. Elijah is a year older, 9cm taller, stronger and seems to me to be quicker than Motlop. Height gives him a marking advantage over Motlop too. Motlop has enjoyed a great preseason, and kicked 3 against the Saints in an unofficial praccy game. We will see how Vossy decides to go vs Tigers kindergarten.

Cottrell won’t play wing in front of Doc or Lucas or Ollie.
Motlop won’t be sub.
Otherwise pretty close.

Here’s my guess:
Cowan Weitering Haynes
OHollands JSoS Saad
Acres Cripps Docherty
EHollands McKay Williams
Kemp Curnow Motts
TdK Cerra Walsh
Hewett Fantasia LCamporeale McGovern
Lord / Cottrell

If Charlie doesn’t get up - Young plays
If McGovern doesn’t get up - Lord plays (not like for like but we have cover within)

B: Saad Weitering Cowan

C: Acres Walsh O.Hollands
R: De Koning Cripps Cerra
HF: Cottrell McKay E.Hollands
F: Kemp Curnow Fantasia
I: L.Camporeale Fogarty Lord Hewett Williams

Carroll, if no McGovern
Lemmey, if no Curnow

Tough call, Lucas over Doc, but he was pretty ordinary for a jack-of-all-trades mid.

I’ve got Ollie on a wing, but I expect him to find his way to half back more often than not. We can put that fat-side wing to better use through the middle.

Nice to have another tune up game before the real stuff, particularly some question marks over the fitness of Charlie, Walsh, Gov etc.

Richmond is probably the worst list in a decade. Similar position to us in 2016. They were the worst list last year and they gutted it further in the trade period to go full rebuild at the draft. Hard to see them winning a game this year tbh. I think North will improve a lot and. Maybe west coast but I doubt it.

They’ll be missing Balta and Prestia for this game too. We owe them a few that’s for sure

Welcome to the world of TC: A 20 yo footy institution.

At times, you will think the site has been undermined by trolls.

Bottom line, we all love Carlton.

If we lose to the Tiges & you manage to put on a brave face, you'll deserve an Oscar, Felix

Lets be specific about the 2 rucks debate.

There's a group who staunchly believe Vossy would never select and would have to have "rocks" in his head to do so, or the notion is a "furphy" (ie never will happen).

vs

Those who think there's valid reasons why Voss would pick 2 rucks.

And as you may already know, Vossy did select 2 rucks during the season, and won games with the 2 rucks.

Have a strong feeling Young will be selected in the opening game of the season, and give TDK a chop out. :yikes:

Even when you joke about the 1 ruck vs 2 ruck debate, it becomes a 1 ruck vs 2 ruck debate. The gift that keeps giving

You also need to nominate a whipping boy, it doesn’t have to be a player.

Similar to the above, this puts you into distinct camps during the year.

Enjoy

I actually also think Young will be selected only because Charlie doesn't play in order to give TDK the chop out. When Charlie is back then H can provide the chop out as he did a few times last season.

SOS will need to stay back and Kemp isn't big enough to play ruck (I see Kemp as a slightly bigger version of Jack Martin playing HF).

A comfortable win with no injuries please.

Don't go in there expecting an easy win, we know how that turns out.
