Drops tomorrow.

Thursday night footy has been boosted massively, featuring in all but 2 weeks of the H&A season. Apparently we're in 3 of the first 16.

I don't love Thursday nights.

Any guesses for our double ups?

I'm gonna go

Collingwood
Essendon*
St Kilda
Adelaide
Sydney

(is that enough)

I’d be keen to play Hawthorn, Sydney & Brisbane early.

Tigers - MCG
Hawks - MCG
Lions - Gabba
Swans - Marvel
Filth - MCG
Norf - Marvel (Good Friday)

I think they’ll have us playing both GC and GWS away because they need bums in seats. The trade off might be a return fixture at home.

Even though we get the middle six draw, I don’t think we’ll be getting any of The bottom four twice.

Without knowing the exact parameters, my guess is we’ll double up against:

Brisbane
Geelong
GWS
Hawthorn
Filth
GC

I don't like the vacuum it leaves over the weekend if Carlton play on a Thurs.

Hopefully we play Richmond and West Coast twice and no more 5 day breaks - unless our opposition has a 5 day break as well.

The fixture release is a total AFL Wank fest

Releasing little bits everyday - gather round - then opening round- then thursday nights - then sunday nights

FFS you know the draw already just release when you know it

That's how they engineer the entire offseason really. Trickle feed us with footy events to make sure it's never out of the news.

Throw in a decent player scandal or two & it's pretty much a 12 month season

Same. Hated the Monday experiment but Thurs is great.

Yes the 5 day breaks are terrible. We had one this season where we had a 5 & the opposition had an 8 or some crap I'm pretty sure.

The problem is it gets harder as the season goes on because you can't just keep rotating through the same 4 teams on Thurs/Fri nights.

Sunday twilight sucks but if they ever made a move to actual Sunday night that'd be even worse

Remember the Spew trialled Sunday night and we got stuck with them?
Same with Monday night actually.

Horrid.

I like watching Thursday night games, I just hate attending them.

I could get behind Sunday night footy - on the telly.

I think I read that five of the nine games we’re going to be in Perth, so it’s probably more of a Sunday twilight game.

[REDACTED] if I’d want to be backing up Perth on Sunday night into Thursday or Friday night though. You can bet your balls that we’ll be the ones copping that.

We've got St Kilda on a Fri night at the MCG some time in the first 16 rounds

Another quirk in the fixture will see a Marvel Stadium double-header in round 11, coinciding with Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Carlton will play Greater Western Sydney on the Saturday at 1.20pm AEST, before North Melbourne hosts Collingwood at the same venue at 7.35pm AEST later that evening.

No five day breaks, thankfully.

But, round 8 against Adelaide is sandwiched between a pair of six day breaks. That’ll be this year’s conditioning challenge.
