no team will fear us now, we win the close ones, but we keep teams in the game and give them hope of winning. at least we kicked straight for a change. i reckon they got a sniff when cerra went off. this season will be defined by hamstrings. i think they have cost us 2 wins already, and we will miss cerra heaps against the bloods

i wonder where their heads would have been at if we lost that one

credit to petracca, he basically played a lone hand. without him we would have had our 8 goal win

but we won, ugly as it was, we can bank those 4 points and move on

We didn't win the close ones v Adelaide or those black and white cauliflower.

i'm trying to forget those missnaut....

An important victory.

Well, time will tell…

The tap back into play was (almost) the turning point.

Honourable mention to Cincotta for a stellar lock down role, and Gov who was drove our early dominance, but once Petracca scored those two goals his influence waned.

what do you mean effes?

Letting teams back in so often. Allowing scores too easily from Carlton's forward line.

Over possessing inviting opposition pressure and allowing them to get numbers back.

Pros
We beat a team that will be top 4
Our first quarter, finally took our chances
Early game form of Gov, him and Martin will get better in time
Charlie's work rate
Pittos continued good form
Owies was good
Defence was much better

Cons
Letting them back in, although you can't keep Melbourne down for a whole game, particularly playing down with injured players
Over handballed, we don't seem to know when to kick or handball and were unclean again. We've got time to get it right though
Weitering dropped off, I couldn't work out if he was taken away from the ball
That awful goal when they tapped it back in, just awful

other than cerra's hammy, and another game we couldn't run out. those first 3.5 quarters were really good.

lots who needed to, stood up. the fumbles hit late and imo that was fatigue more than pressure.

Let’s face the truth. A loss would have been SOOOOOO much worse!

Go Blueboys!!!!

Probably shouldn't have voted so soon after Walshy's 4th quarter fumbles, but Owies played a ripper and Charlie played with maturity and even halved some contests against May when it mattered... first time I've voted for him all year, waiting him to play like a leader.

Thought we played well for 3 and a bit quarters. Went in to save mode way too early in the fourth after playing way too fast earlier in the quarter. Slow the @#$%&! down. Maintain possession. Control the tempo.

Happily take the 4 points and all the learnings, which are plenty.

Another bloody hammy  :yikes:

all fair comments. all fixable. i think the scores from our forward line will slow down when the fog gets back in

We were 26 points up with 10 minutes left, I honestly thought we were safe then. And 19 points up with less than 4 minutes, no one loses from that position in this day and age. And yet... it really would have been the most humiliating defeat in living memory.

I thought Kemp was good, certainly showed a lot more than Young last week.

Cinc was great too.

Plenty of pros but the desire to harass, pressure and defend the ground was finally on show. Biggest pro for me.

Negative was the flowering umpiring in the 2nd half. Disgracefully one sided and so obvious. Spoilt a great game.
