Who are the Pies forward talls that we’re so worried about?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Young is omitted for a smaller, faster player. A Cincotta-type - did he play in the VFL?

Sam Durdin for Young. I don’t care if he hasn’t played for weeks, he’ll have a dip

Sam and Jacob in the same backline would be a disaster. Young is quicker and more athletic than Sam.
Just think about this for a minute….

My first preference was to drop Young and play a more mobile backline. Somebody else was concerned about Cox.

I’m just concerned about having Young give away 3-4 goals with his lack of effort

I think with both Collingwood and Melbourne, there is an opportunity to drop Young and have one less tall down back, one faster player instead.

He’s only played one game in the last month due to being rested and then being emergency, plus all the byes.

But I’d still consider bringing him in to replace young.

We only need to worry about our defense this Week as it has already been confirmed that McGovern will be back for the Game against Melbourne and he is also a chance to play this Week!

Never the less, Young is a Liability. Cincotta is a much better option. He is Big and can play tall. Never understood why Vossy took him out of the side this year. He had a Solid year last year- unless he was injured of course

how many times have i said the long bombs into f50 is our downfall good sides just rebound it out with speed because we have 1 no team defence 2 our players are all one pace,we need to learn from cats game and find best option going fwd NOT just charlie and Harry .

I am not sure how many times you have said that JPulice.

We probably go long to improve our team defense. 6 players on the defensive side of the ball. Still got a good rate of inside 50's to scoring shot and 4.4 per goal is pretty good considering the misses we had. But yes we do concede too many goals from the back 50 this year. And concede too much score all round.

Jordan De Goey and Tom Mitchell will both face a fitness test before Friday night’s clash with Carlton.

De Goey is carrying a groin, while Mitchell has foot soreness.

Josh Daicos also trained away from main group before leaving the track early.

Last year, the Long Bomb was working OK for us because our Small Forwards were putting so much pressure and able to lock the ball in. We need Motlop & Forgarty back to ease the pressure on our Defence.

We also need to Stop playing a Shoot out style of Game. It doesn't work when the opposition scores easily against you!

Yes , if we start doing dinky little kicks and it gets turned over people will complain about shallow entries .

The problem is those long bombs are usually shallow entries anyway.
I'd like to see a stat on how many actually hit the top of the goal square, it'd be pretty low going by the old eye test.
But as per jpulice comment, the issue is the speed in which we move the ball from our defence, the long bombs wouldn't be an issue if we had another gear as most of the times it'd be to 1 on 1s or better still, the unthinkable........actually hitting loose targets.

I notice that Collingwood's betting odds have lengthened a little so maybe there is some truth to this.
