The game was over umpired, yes. But Norf were undisciplined and just plain inexperienced/dumb. 5 50m penalties is a lot to give away.

Charlie needs to take a step back and stop trying to be the highlight reel.

.

I feel that Charlie plays on Instinct, it is a strength and can be a weakness at times. I'd hate to see that knocked out of him. His good, more than outweighs the occasional brain fade.

Elijah might be the 2024 version of 95's Matt Clape. Good mark, good intensity, great team man.

Exciting prospect.

It’s a good point. Not that our navy blue would have clashed with their colors yesterday but still other sides should not be changing their jumpers to clash with original team jumpers.

I think Motlop and Fogarty and a Durdin will be our best options going forward - but another good one wouldn’t hurt.

Owies gets it done with less fanfare

He does seem to bob up for a goal a game - but I’m still not convinced- not sure whether it’s because he’s good or if it’s because he slips under the radar because not enough respect is paid to him.

our connection coming out from defence needs to improve big time especially against good teams

Even though it was only Norf, I felt Marchbank (and Elijah) should have come through the seconds.
Elijah settled later but Marchie was off the pace the whole day, including 4 frees early that led to goals.
Kemp could have a right to feel hard done by.
The back 6 didn't completely gel yesterday with two significant ins.
Weiters will be better for run too but played well.

I agree Marchbank struggled but kemp will be back next week anyway.

I was pretty happy with Elijah, go and have a look at his highlight package that was just posted in his thread.

We are doing well and racking up the points. There's a lot of room for improvement but all the fringe players are battling for a spot in the team. No more easily earned games for subpar talent. Good to see Elijah Hollands kick a goal. Seems like he could fill the mid size forward role left vacant after JSOS's injury. Great that both Harry and Charlie are firing. We beat up on Norf which I enjoyed.

It's all about marketing - another item to sell at the Carlton Shop.

On that note, this latest white strip is excellent.

We got it right at last.

Finally watched the replay this afternoon. Solid win against an average opponent. Marchbank wasn't ready and it told. I'm not convinced by Marchy anyway, but certainly not an underdone Marchy. Kemp was good V tiges. He surely comes in next week. The thing that I have noticed this year is our tackling. They are sticking this year and don't seem to be broken like they have previously. Maybe it's just the opponents and there are more significant tests to come in the coming weeks. Reckon Freo will be a good match up but we should get it done.

This game was all about the big boys up front and the big bodies in the middle. George's best game this year. Crippa doing what he does. Cerra played his best for the year. We're not at our best yet, but we're getting there. Harry has been sensational this year and against the Roos, he just bossed them. Reckon Charlie is a long way from his best, and yet he's managed to kick 10 goals in 3 games. That is a scary prospect for opposition backlines. I thought Elijah worked his way into it and probably a mixture of nerves and lack of footy for the last month, saw him a bit rusty early, but he got better as the game wore on and was amongst our better performers on the day.

Overall, solid win and you'd take a 9 goal win every day of the week.

If you look at the stat sheet again, they weren’t massive stats by any stretch, everyone took their turn when they needed to which was the hallmark of the performance."

i bring up the point again re stats. Durds didnt get many disposals, in fact just 2 kicks for 2 goals, but his pressure in the first quarter, and second was constant. He was sharp, quick and didnt allow the Kangas HB's Sheezel and McKercher to have free reign.

5 goals from small forwards, make that 6 goals with Fantasia's one in the last. Not bad from the small forwards. Love the energy they bring.

21 goals in the game. That says something about chemistry. Sharing the load, and helps when mids kick a few goals too: Cripps Cerra Hewett Carroll Acres.

Good comparison.

Elijah ahead at the same age imo, and he is still developing and improving.

Matt Clapes 1995 season was one out the box, when just about every marking attempt stuck.

I agree with this. We're tackling more often and more effectively this year. The other improvement on last year is our ball movement.

Exactly Bondi. Our smalls did and are doing the job. Add the finishers like Martin and Motlop and we are set.

Yep
But its a long season
North simply are rebuilding and can’t sustain it over 4 quarters
Early days
And let’s face it
King like just about every commentator in the AFL media is a wanker
If your team is winning you are the real deal
They have some serious weapons
A team has a form slump
Holes are appearing etc etc etc
Probably the only post mortem show worth watching is On the Couch

Finally getting a chance to watch the game.

Northball?

Seriously?

WTF?

The second worst team in the league and we have to have a name for their shitness?

Just like the English with Bazball. Shit teams look to market their sporadic good play in order to try and gain some relevance even though they are currently a dumpster fire.
