A few interesting conversations from Hall of Fame evening.

Fev was the highlight of the evening.

My nephew bid and won a lunch with Fev on Lygon st. Lucky bugger. Only 2 seats.
Someone bid and won a lunch with Kerna Bradley Fev and Williams. How about that!

Weiters raring to go and ready. They might give him another week whilst backline holding firm.
Walshy should be ready in the next 2 weeks but may be given a month off to be ripe and ready.
Marchbank fit and ready to go just needs to tick a couple boxes this week.
Martin says he's good to go.
Hollands super keen to make his debut, and ready for the call up.
Newman said team is super fit and trusting of each other no matter whose in or out.

So good news Walshy to be back on big stage well before Kate Middleton does.

Cheers Bondi. If the Walsh info is solid then happy with Round 5.

Great to hear Bondi

A mate bumped into Adam Cerra on Friday & had a chat & had pretty much the same mail as you

If Weitering is fit and raring to go, he plays this week. We can't rely on the Young/Kemp combo a second longer.

Did anyone hear the rumour that Cerra had a virus the week of the Richmond game?

So the Kangas gave Freo a scare with a five-goal lead. We then know, the Dockers kicked like 9 goals in a row or so and got the chocolates.

My Point is we simply MUST SMASH the Kangaroos:

1. Clarkson is a #$%^
2. We cannot be complacent - our boys simply need to BURY the teams they should and really smash them (we need %%%%%).

I know "one week at a time" focus, BUT, given the next few games, we have a golden opportunity to be 5 and zip.....

AND we should be - no excuses IMO

To give some of the recent news about Walsh at the Hall of Fame some cred, Mark Robbo in the Herald Sun today stated

Quote:
The good news is Carlton’s Sam Walsh (back) trained strongly on Friday and could return on Good Friday.

Apart from Silvagni and Docherty all our senior players are fit for action, and just a case of when Russell lets go the reigns.

Then there would be Vossy's desperation to have them back, but he's happy with the way the depth players are filling in for best 22 players who are out.

In other words depth/ developing players like Young, Kemp, Carroll, Fogarty, Durdin are doing just fine, regardless what some of their detractors are saying.

I'd say only Fantasia looks like he's taking a bit of time to get into the swing of things, but then again the coach may be giving him time on ground to find his feet.

There was a couple players who had a virus after the Brizzy game. Obviously not the same as Marchbanks.

I blame those planes. I caught something on the plane. Throat and mild chest infection. Antibiotics fixed it in 3 days.

But Trav, we have relied on Young and Kemp with some success. They aren't as good as Weitering and Marchbank, but not as bad as you make out.
Young has had 2 goals kicked against him in an undefeated team.

I look forward to the return of Weitering, Marchbank, Walsh, Hollands, Martin and Motlop, and hope we have a good run with injury in 2024.

Jeez selection is gonna be tough if all those guys are fit. Add in Motlop who is clearly our best small forward.

Until we can consistently bury teams 18th, 17th, 16th, and 15th then I don’t think we are a consistent top 4 team.

If Weitering is right, he plays. Don't take any game lightly.
Back this week so he's ready for Freo..... That's a real danger game

Agree.

We must win as many games as possible in first 18 rounds, enough games to set us up for a Top 4 finish. Only then is when we may have the luxury start rest a player here and there in readiness for our finals assault.

It will be exactly 11 weeks this Good Friday since Weiters did his calf injury (Friday Jan 12), and he's been training with the squad for at least 3 weeks.
All reports suggest he's ready to play, so lets hope he does.

Only the Dogs have better odds than us this weekend.
We need to bank some % to show we are a top 4 contenders.

Shit the bed territory in past years.

Hope we've left that behind.
