Shanked a lot today, Charlie with two out on the full set shots either side. McKay kicked a nice drop punt set shot early. Then normal programming resumed, hit the post with a snap 20 out, and then completely shanked a set shot directly in front. |

Can't read anything into it, but nothing to get excited about from the little bit I've watched on my lunch break. Backline seems rudderless, which without Weiters is the concern. I think Doc needs to play back until weiters is available to give it some direction. |

Who's going to bust themselves in a scratch match at 38 deg with a hot, swirling northerly. Plus, most unusually, we have had 4 weeks less pre-season than Geelong too.

My thoughts: Still concerned by McKays kicking but he was really good with his marking and skills below his feet. Ollie Hollands ran all day. Amazing gut running. Motlop was dangerous. E. Hollands was good. Saad great run. Kemp and Young absolute liabilities. I fear for our backline without Weitering. We need Docherty and Williams down back. I would rather go short than play Young. Omg he gave away so many frees and when he gets the ball he slows the play down everytime. His kicking is also no good. Cunningham - Not sure why everyone raves about this guy and why he is still on the list. Does nothing. Cant tackle. I dont know why his name is in the 1st team conversation. Orazio provided good leadership and composure forward. Moir was not sighted much but you can see something. At the fall of a crumb. And big bodies. Cripps, Cerra unsighted really. Dont think Cerra was on the ground much. The players were very stand off ish - understandably so. (I hope it was deliberate) Kicking for goal is horrendous. Geelong kick them from everywhere. Wish we didnt go to the wings so often. Wish we wouldnt just bomb it long to our forward line only to be cut off. But at least no injuries. |

I was there for first 2 and 1/2 quarters, My observations are similar to Drewgirl: Ollie Hollands was excellent Still a heavy reliance on Crippa in centre square stoppages Harry very good with hands, not so good with feet. Spent some time at centre hitouts. Charlie played like last years finals series, far too easily beaten with poor body work Saad was excellent, he is such an important player for us Cerra & Hewett solid Kemp was ordinary - decision making and disposal abysmal Cunningham, I am sad to say, but I don't think he's up to it. He's not in our top 30. Looked flat, fumbled a lot, opponents ran off him. McGovern was very good, Occasional clanger, but that was more to do with the swirling wind TDK - didn't do much Newman - very good Jordan Boyd was good, he's a lock for best 23 Cottreell was OK Lewis Young - NO |
