From now it would appear.

Probably the bloke we can least adequately cover in the entire squad, but better now than later in the year I suppose. Options? Young if he can recapture his form of 2022 but his 2023 stank. Big Durds is a good state league player can stopgap in the ones but I'd be surprised if he was more than that. After that you are looking at undersized or out of position or both unless young Harry Lemmey seizes the chance in defence, but whilst I like the look of him he seems a fair way off at best. Still I guess it gives us a look at our depth KPDs early in the campaign.

Lewis's best work has been in JW's absence. Not slashing my wrists just yet...

From date of injury, it is basically 8 weeks until Round 0.

And it’s been decidedly downhill since then.

We’ll be fine. Have depth to cover short term injuries. This list is primed.

Agree

Writing off Lewis is too simplistic.

He turned 25 on December 20 2023. He was drafted in 2016 and is coming into his prime.

Following their Premiership year Bulldogs selected first year KPD, Lewis Young, to play CHB on Carlon's dynamo, Charlie Curnow, and gave Curnow a bath as an 18yo. Not bad for a kid who was still raw and undeveloped. That says the kid had skills and talent, not only to be on an AFL list, but to be backed so early in his career. He's got something. For speed GPS tracking showed he was in the top 5 for speed on our list.

I recall the raps he received from all Carlton fans when he filled in for Weitering in 2022. He's got something, and if development has improved at Carlton, then no reason why he can't be developed to follow Vossy's instructions.

There's pressure and competition for Weiterings spot between Young and Durdin, and, with a spot possibly opening (if Weiters doesn't make it for round 0) I think we all agree that pressure for spots brings the best out of footballers. Lets see what happens.

I like Young and Durdin. They aren't better FB's than Weitering but can play a KPD role for the team against the monsters. I wouldn't be relying on McGovern, Marchbank or Kemp to play on monsters like Hawkins, but then again, Marchbank did well on Hipwood in the Prelim. Horses for courses.

Good luck to Weitering, and may the best man win his spot if and when he's not available to play FB.

Not really.

Weitering and Young played together in round 1 last year and Young was one of our best. Round 2 they both played well and we beat the Cats.

Young was dropped in round 11 when we really needed him against the very tall Swans, but changes were needed at that stage after losing 6 in a row. Some supporters wanted the coach to be changed. One supporter was caught on film calling out to SOS in the race he was a disgrace to the Silvagni name. The game plan or commitment from the players further up the ground was [REDACTED].

I think what the MC felt was that Weitering and Young play a similar role and don't need both of them playing, and selected Kemp to play for more run from the backline. We lost another 3 in a row after Young was dropped.

Ive watched most games in the past 6 weeks and I don't think Weitering is an attacking, running defender. Weiters is in AA calculations, Young is not. So we can never replace Weitering. Its a case oof selecting a player to fill Weiters spot, that's all.

Young is AFL quality. he's proven it. If he did have a drop in form, and I think confidence, that can be regained. He's only 25yo.

Young was offered another 3 year contract. He musn't be as bad as you think AGRO. Blame for those 8 losses cannot be blamed on Young.

We have depth in all positions, except ruck imo. We should be grateful to our List Manager.

We will get through this, and the team will continue playing for each other and apply pressure and contest, with or without Weitering. Don't you worry about that.

Baggers!!!!!!!

It's just annoying that we've got Daniher & Hipwood first up.
