I reckon we nickname him Kenny.

Seems to make it back ok for the next episode most of the time.

As long as the de-load does the job, he should be right.

Any sign he’s getting jabs to maintain will come back to bite us in September.

The stupid draw might tempt them to sit him out with Weiters - miss two, then a bye, then tune up against Norf. Full steam ahead for Freo in Gather Round.

I'd endorse that

Update

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/02/21/ ... -soreness/

Sam Walsh has been ruled out of both Carlton practice matches after the Blues extended the injured star’s absence from side.

Walsh is battling back soreness stemming from last week’s match simulation at Ikon Park and will remain on a modified program for at least another week and a half.

The midfielder was today ruled out of next Wednesday’s practice match against Melbourne, in addition to tomorrow's hit-out against Geelong.

I'm really not sure why people and media are so surprised with injuries if clubs train like they play and use match simulation.

Kind of like a boxer becoming punch drunk....doesn't just occur in fights, which happen once or twice a year.

It's the repeated hits in training...also like the soccer payers getting dementia later in life...they head ball once in game and 20 times each week in training.

If they put them cotton wool they don't play up to standard everyone expects...if they train them hard they get injured.

Choose your side of the fence on which you want to sit.

Injury free Marchbank finally getting to do a decent pre season, then struck down with illness. Any word on how Williams is progressing?

Can anyone shed any light on WTF is happening?
Club expects him to be right for opening round. Just being careful due to his history.

Another blow for Carlton on the eve of Opening Round. Jesse Motlop's jarred toe hasn't settled in time to face Brisbane. Set to miss 1-2 weeks. Blues still hopeful other small forwards Corey Durdin (hamstring) and Matt Owies (calf) will be available. More on @AFLcomau

Carlton has also ruled out midfield star Sam Walsh until at least its Round 2 bye. Blues say he is increasing his training loads on a modified program. @AFLcomau

Hmm. Tempering my optimism a little here. Hope we can split the first two and then the real season starts after the bye.

1-1 and no further injuries would be a tick.

This whole update after round 2 thing with Walsh does not fill me with confidence at all. What have they done to him? It's preseason training FFS.

Dubious about Motlop also. 2 weeks with a jarred toe?
