The AFL have been giving the interstate teams a free ride with these Acadamy picks for years and not one team has raised an eyebrow ….. father sons are the issue though. FMD.
Exactly.
I couldn't help watch the draft last night getting more and more angry that the Suns didn't really have to give up much to get A grade talent and trade out a whole lot of meaningless 3rd and 4th round picks.
"Ok, so we'll give the Suns an A grade player and in return all you have to do is give back a whole range of 4th and 5th round picks that no one wants...eg pick 57, 59, 61 etc"
It's a rort. Yet another one. I am ok with the Suns getting these players but the point system is flawed. I don't feel the Suns had to give up anything of worth to get 3 A grade players.
It would be fairer if:-
Jed Walters was gained yet Suns have to give up at least one 1st Round or 2nd Round pick to gain him. So that might be a future 1st round or future 2nd round. This "point" system is a farce.
Agree with you on father-son too. A complete rort. Look at Collingwood and Nick Daicos. They didn't pay market value for him. They paid makey-up socialist mates rates for him. The ex-Richmond coach Hardwick doesn't need to be a genius to get towards premiership success with this lot. Didn't he say he gets a whole lot of Christmas gifts at the draft.. He knows, everyone knows in the industry the rort being perpetrated. My team has waited 25 years just to be competitive and their team gets given all those gifts. Not happy, Jan.
