We now have both Holland brothers. We have Binns. Next year probably the Campo twins. All runners.

We have young talls in Lemmney and O'Keefe in the wings.

Cowan gaining experience in the VFL. The two Irish boys.

So who do we take this year in the draft particularly with our 22 and 28?

Our wing depth has changed dramatically across the last 12 months with the addition of Acres, Hollands and Binns and the development of the Camporeale boys.

I really don't like the risk we've taken with the future pick swaps. I ain't a gambler and highly risk averse. All I see is the chance that we actually end up costing ourselves draft points that, for the first time ever, we actually need. We haven't banked extra. We've gambled on finishing higher than both dogs and cheats. Guess we'll know in 12 months time what the value of this trade has been.

Still feel the same?

Grabbed some Irish lads prior to - under Cat B. Tick

Grabbed a former top 10 draft pick, who obviously has AFL skills. It is all up to him now. Tick

Do the Suns need all of these picks or points for their academy rort selections? :?

Hope we do a draft night trade to get another pick in the twenties and a future pick. We have three list spots that we need to fill in the draft. We traded a future pick to get Cowan last year.

Not sure how that worked out for the Pies.

I feel better by the end of it all. Still think we've gambled on futures. We won't know the full extent of it for 12 months. 4th round picks don't give you a lot of draft points and after there's the usual AFL manipulation and handouts, by halfway through the 4th round, they're worth 0 and gives nothing towards getting the twins.

I remember Hollands being spoken of as a potential number 1 before his ACL... much the same as Kemp. Kemp took a while but he's looking more and more likely to be a long term player. If Hollands gets anywhere near his potential, a good trade period becomes a great trade period

So does that mean we’ll have only 2 live picks in the ND?

I'd like to see us take the 2 best rated tall fwds available at both picks, and hopefully one of them comes good in a few years. Lemney, did he show anything really this year, to get us excited?

We have enough young developing midfielders, defenders, rucks and small forwards.

I think we’ve got three available spots, but I’ve been wrong on that before… 44 is the max - primary, Cat A & B all inclusive?

I think we’ll try to move 70 & 78 before the draft starts & hold the final spot for the SSP.

Not sure how that worked out for the Pies.

GC will have to surrender 24, 26 & 27 to match a bid on Walter at #2. The 200-odd remaining points will slot back in in the mid 50s.
Then Read will probably find a bidder between 6-10. There goes 32, 36 & 38.
Then Rogers, still in the first dozen.
Then they’ll make a tough call on that other kid in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Decent argument to suggest that they need another pick in the 50s

Tall forwards? We have Harry, Charlie, JSOS, playing regularly and O'Keefe developing. TDK wanders down sometimes.

I am just thinking with the added speed of a new Hollands, a further developed Hollands plus Binns and Cowan, barring injury we will be
a pretty complete side next year.

So on reflection 2 mid to tall players who have shown they are versatile e.g.

Hardeman 188cm mid/def 17 (rated to go at by Cal Twomey)
Tholstrup 186cm for/mid 19
DeMattia 184cm mid/for/def 20
Stevens 189cm mid/def 28 already done an ACL!

Th ere are players on other phantom drafts but I have kept it to Twomey.

Guess we won't be targeting one of their picks in the twenties. Especially since we downgraded a pick for EH.

Wonder if the Crows would entertain offers for pick for 14.

If early bids come in for the Gold Coast Academy kids then essentially our pick 28 becomes pick 25 as their picks 24, 26, 27 essentially get wiped. So we turned 16 (excluding the Ben McKay nonsense) into 22 and 25.

I think our future first and one of those 2 picks might be offered for us to go up the order.
