It's been made harder by NRL Preli. on at the same time, with visiting hordes of kiwis v Broncos.
As Lang Park holds 50,000 and the Gabba only 35,000 this alone is making accommodation and flights frightful.
Just check maps for outskirts and even further - Gold Coast is about an hour and a bit away, Sunshine Coast an hour and a half.

I'm staying on sunshine coast. Pre planned holiday which has worked out perfectly. Takes roughly 2 hours by public transport to get to Gabba.

I am fortunate enough to have secured two tickets for the Blues on Tour Day Trip, which gets me up there and into the game and home (actually cant wait, trip is going to be epic)

I am also fortunate enough to be a legends lounge member, which also gives me priority access to category 1 and 2 seating.

if someone doesnt have tickets im happy to try and use my membership to get two tickets? Not interested in making money, just want face value for tickets (Adult and concession) plus booking fees etc.. and to get two more carlton fans into the game.

if you are interested PM me. Will do my best to secure tickets tomorrow.

Lucky you.
My daughter wanted to get 2 tickets for that package today. I think it must have sold out just before she tried to book.
That was a pretty good deal. The cheapest return airfares were around $1,300 that she found.
Have fun and barrack hard.

Yeah if I was going to go I'd have booked the day trip package. Would have been around the same price and way more convenient.

Work out the fuel cost Heavs, makes it hard to beat even rip off flights.

I left Melbourne once at 5am got to Brisbane by midnight.
But I don't need many stops.
All 'autopilot'.

But fuel was about 50c in those days!

I did a calculation in a trip planning app for the cost of a Melbourne to Brisbane round trip based on my car's 7.0L/100km efficiency and the $2.13/L I paid the other day for E10 petrol, and it came to $512.

'Normally' you can get each way tickets for under $200 if you don't mind early.
So yeah, I've done similar calcs GreatEx and usually figure 2 hours on a plane instead of 20 hours driving and less cost kind of wins.

But, in this rare instance, with flights over $800 if someone can afford the travel time, why not?

Try Bonza. In the likely event that there's nothing decent for the coast, you could try Toowoomba then drive/bus from there.

(I'm not going. Seriously can't afford it. TV for me this time around.)
