When we lived on the Gold Coast (1990 - 2013) the Norman Hotel was one of our favourite Brisbane pubs.
Great steaks, great beers and the best slogan ever;

"World's Worst Vegetarian Restaurant."

(You can buy the tee-shirt).

Any interest in the $20 2pm pub function?

Which pub?

The Norman one is pretty much in line with the Breakfast Creek as a steak pub. Get there early and smash a steak. If you do the 1kg challenge you can have your name on the wall.

All three pub events are already sold out but the $20 Norman one would be good to attend. If anything like the $20 one on the Gold Coast a few weeks ago it will be packed.

Can only see a sold out $300 event

There is a $20 event at the same pub. I can’t find where I saw the flyer. It’s a usual Carlton pre-game function 2-4pm. Canapés. Past players. Usually an auction. I have gone to heaps of them and normally just pay at the door. It’s definitely at the Norman. I’ll try and find the details.

This one at the Morrison?

Thats the flyer. At the Morrison not the the Norman. The. Morrison is very close to the Gabba. Only a couple of minutes walk away.

Yep that’s it! I’d seen that floating around but couldn’t remember where. Morrison it is, not the Norman. Definitely worth getting to if you have the time.

Paywalled, but this on the Herald Sun:

Qantas launches footy fare sale after AFL chair urged to intervene
Qantas is launching a 24-hour fare sale after Carlton fans were slugged up to $1647 for a one way flight to Brisbane, sparking calls for Richard Goyder to intervene.

Starting at 10 AM according to SEN!

I’m guessing we may need to pre-pay than wait to pay at the door.

I’ll definitely have some time before the match and am looking for some place to go for an hour or two beforehand.

Finally everything sorted when my Airbnb booking for $150 was confirmed this morning! I had secured a hotel room at $952 just in case but can cancel that now.

Returns Flights from Newcastle were pretty easy to get, $742 booked late last night. I thought I’d be able to fly-in fly-out same day but the last flight out of Brisbane is 8:45pm, every night! @#$%&! country town.

There’s still a few rooms on Airbnb if anyone needs one, there’s even some chick advertising her hotel room couch for $350! But it is walking distance to the Gabba.

I can’t believe how many rooms I found “available”, went through booking process only to be told on the last click that I’d “just missed out, but would you be interested in these other hotels.” @#$%&!!

Looks like the sale is for grand final weekend, not this weekend.

Well that's just great isn't it?

Thanks for the heads up on this, Traveller86.
I'm now flying up and back from Melbourne.
(I was going to take a train :garthp: )

Anyone else on QF414 departing Tullamarine at 7:30am on Saturday morning? Going to Brisbane via Sydeney.
Go Blues

I would be so worried they are going to cancel or delay.

Great stuff bg72! Was thinking about Moshe a lot this week because his Dallas Cowboys are looking very good as well. Last time they were any good was the mid 90's  I'm up and back on the Saturday and can't wait!

Wonderful Doc!

Here's to Moshe.

Let's hope we stand up and smash 'em!
