C7 apparently mentioned Marchbank is a watch so Durdin is potential coverage unless we went with another runner

A bit out of left field, but what about a Cottrell or a Kennedy on Lever as a defensive forward?

I think Kennedy on Lever is a great idea, and up to the Dees to decide what to do with that.

Carlton just needs to stop the Dees run and force play to a hard contest, repetitively.
In a game of attrition that should make the difference in the end, our way.

Hollands unleashed in the last, along with Cottrell's run, and Acres who probably keeps on keeping on, we can beat them on the outside too.

They've gone for a quick team.
My money would be on Grundy as the sub.

I'm not sure I'd go Hollands as sub. His biggest asset is his endurance, his ability to run an opponent into the ground over 4 quarters. A sub doesn't need particularly good endurance if they're coming on late in the game. You want an impact player. I think Dow can have a bigger impact off the bench late in the game. He has a very good track record with this.

If Marchbank doesn't get up I'd bring in Fisher, not Sam Durdin. They have a small forward line and we've already got 3 medium-talls. Who would be the matchup for Durdin? I'd rather have more run off half back than another key defender.

I agree with both points. Dow more explosive than Hollands as the sub.
And I don’t think they’ll replace Marchbank with Durdin. Fisher may not be the most defensive back man but he sure can be an attacking weapon.

I agree also.
Hollands got smoked when we played Melbourne.
And if Dow was sub that could release Walsh to a wing and Cotters forward.

Walsh, cerra, Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy all playing. Only been a couple of times this year we've had that?

Nothing left field about that... I would expect BOTH will have the 'Armitage' role on Lever, with Charlie one on one with May and a floating TDK...
Bring it on!

Go Blues!

Hopefully we top 93k at the ground tonight
Beautiful day most of the pressure on the Dees
Get a hot start and see how we go
Need in particular Pitto and TDK to nullify Gawn

Agree on both although if Marchbank is out I would bring in Hollands and push Docherty back. Doc for all he can do is an AA defender and a star. He will make us even beter.

A defence of

B: Docherty Weitering McGovern
HB: Newman Kemp Saad Cincotta

is unbeatable

Dow is a better sub. As you said he will have more of an impact. Hollands is a 120 minute player. He just keeps running

they just must, given gawn is playing with a broken toe.

lever double teaming charlie with may. i'm not sure where our goals will come from, but we're going to have to tackle the dees out of this game. much like the last time we played them.

i think they'll come out breathing fire, but if we breathe it back, i get the feeling their big week off the park, will catch up with them.

Re: Kennedy

Will we try and play him deep like Swans did with Parker last week. I thought it made a differnce and the defence very accountable. Kennedy is very strong and tough. At worst will provide a contest and not get beaten

Woke up this morning and wanted the game played this morning.
Twelve hours of tension to come - confidence, nervousness and excitement!
I guess that's what finals footy does to a committed supporter.
Like Frank said, let's hope we have a hot start.
GO BLUES!!!

He’s played 6 games in a row - don’t think he’s ever done that before - probably cooked.
