The whole 1944/1945 thing.

What's that all about eh?

1944: Carlton were in the top 4 all season from Rd 4 onwards then dropped to 5th and out of the finals by losing the last match to Footscray by one point
1945: outside the final 4 all season until scraping into 4th in the last round beating Footscray by 53 points before winning every final on the way to the Premiership.

"missnaut" is alluding to the parallel - in the top 8 all last year until a 1 point loss in the final round kicked us out of finals, following up with this year hopefully being a parallel of 1945 - the late recovery into the finals and charge to the flag.

Yep, I'm getting the tattoo now... "1945 / 2023", signifying a Carlton revival flag and the end of the war... on drugs!

A number under each eye lid.
What an inspiration.

Thank you for elaborating, I was too tired to explain!

Absolutely GWS!!!

We had a few private chats about living in Brunswick/Carlton in the 60s/70s, about our days at LaTrobe Uni, the maths staff and umpire Ian Robinson (he was my lecturer and Moshe's PhD supervisor I think)

RIP

I lived in Walton St Brunswick as a toddler in the early 1950's and again when I moved to Melbourne from Hamilton in 1967 - for my first job in Clifton Hill.

My grandparents owned a couple of houses in Walton St which is between Sydney Rd and Lygon St and between Edwards St and Glenlyon Rd.

In winter we could hear the crowd roar from Princes Park when the Blues kicked a goal. In summer evenings we could hear the lions roar from Melbourne zoo.

Fond memories.

Because every time Argentina have won the World Cup, we've won the flag the following year.

1978

1986

2022

Vamos!
