Dead Rubber.... We get to decide... Do we want to play the Dogs or Gaints again?

Gaints are much stronger and better side but then the Dogs have that finals experience!

Charlie needs Two but Sam Taylor is a Gun Defender.... My Gut feeling is that even if we lose this one, we will come back again and smash the Gaints in the finals...

I prefer that we Smash the Dogs though.... :banghead: :banghead:

We could be playing Sydney or St Kilda too, depending on the Sydney game

In that case, we would rather face the Dogs than Sydney or Saints.

I would imagine Sydney will be desperate for a home final so they will go all in today. Gaints needs to beat us by at least 40+ to make up percentage on the Saints.

Cottrell - 11 possesions, 2 tackles, 169 meters gained last week but is selected before Hollands, Cuningham and Fogarty. Ok.

he’s not playing wing any more so much as lock down on the opposition’s most agile/damaging running half back or occasionally their most damaging winger.

hollands plays a different role and more like a pure wing without the tackling and marking strength of Cottz. cunners more of an offense first player, fog is an all rounder blocker, midfielder, ground ball intercepter. i guess our openers will partly determine who makes selection each week, baring injuries, though Voss and the MC seem to have favoured less/no changes as opposed to more changes for the sake of playing more players in specific roles. and that’s been the case all year long.

i sure hope Cerra and Walshy aren’t being rushed back in. last thing we want is re-injury (as JSOS seems to have done in the VFL).

Harry looked rusty last week. i guess better for the run but didn’t contribute so much. should players be training at a very high level before returning to the side?

Harry is so important to get up and running and in good touch before the Finals.
Can't underestimate getting a real competitive game under his belt.

Harry wasn't the target last week, but his presence allowed Curnow to play one on one.

I expect Harry to be on fire this week vs GWS.

hope so. defiantly Charlie couldn’t have single handedly won the game like he did against Suns if he had Steven May and Lever hanging off him all game. we’re a much better team wit both our Coleman medalists playing in my book.

at the very least Harry takes critical marks in the true wing position during the last quarter to get the ball safely out of our D50. and as you say frees Charlie up to play one on one. he’s also extremely fast on the sprint. owies has been getting one goal a game running into the forward arc as Charlie kicks it towards goal from outside the F50 from the flank. last week Harry had fifteen metres on Owies running into the goal square for his lone goal against Suns. was a great effort by Harry.

i’m just glad H got through unscathed TBH.

we’ll need him at his best today. GWS are coming home with a wet sail. now thanks to Dogs win at Cattery GWS would need to beat us and gain 3.2% in percentage to make finals.

The AFL got the scheduling of the final 2 games spot on.
Both games will have a say on who makes the 8 and where everyone finishes.
Plus the Coleman race is on.

GWS and Adelaide are both on 48 points.

Percentage doesn’t come into it.

They just need to win to make the finals.

Need to keep GWS under 55

For what?

Lowest points against. We started the round 2nd lowest to St Kilda

Yes, indeed.

We got let down by Geelong only kicking 55 and Brisbane only kicking 72 against the pansy flowers.
Plus we let GC get ahead of themselves and had our 3rd Worst defensive game all year.

So sadly, claiming that title of season's best defence does mean they'll have to be extra miserly today.

That's one of the three things I want for a happy Sunday evening:

1. A win

2. Charlie kicking 5 to keep on track of a 100 on Grand Final day

3. Keeping Giants to under 55

I'll just be happy with no injuries or suspensions. Everything else is secondary.

Spot on. Horrendous time for a game of football whether attending or on TV.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Not expecting a win today, but confident we can beat anyone on the 'G in September.

We have no reason to win this which makes it rather intriguing

I think we've got good reason. A loss could mean a final against the saints as opposed to the Bulldogs (who are in terrible form)

If Charlie kicks 1 is he still the joint winner?

Besides, killing off a team hell bent on making it, when we're already in, would be a pretty great flex to take into the finals.

Carlton by 5 goals

Fair point, I can't see us dropping from 5th though.

I'm of the belief that we know how to win now and it's going to happen regardless.
