We really need to tidy up our possession game in the final few minutes- both weeks realistically we could have lost the game - it’s nice that the footy gods are seeing fit to kiss our genetalia - but I’d like to really be in control of our own destiny.

FINALS…..!

That's my take out also, the posters know who they are, willing us to lose to justify their two hours of back stabbing every second player.

Showed their true colours and won't be forgotten

If you are referring to me as one of those people you refer to as to what I said about Martin
Personally I’m really happy to follow us in September for the first time in a decade
And I hope Martin plays well
I just wish he sometimes would take some body contact from another player

You mean like when he took the contact in the middle off the ground a few weeks ago? Collingwood from memory where it was a 50/50 ball and he smashed in, was harder and won the contest?
It's easy sitting behind a keyboard calling players soft, isn't it.
We're in the finals and 99% of us are excited and happy.
You and the other 1% have always got some sort of qualification to drag it down, no matter how impressive the situation.
Get over it. All your bagging of the club, list, administration etc 8 weeks ago, has all turned to shit. It's wonderful, isn't it?

Martin soft? I don’t think so. He and Fog are arguably our best tacklers

Martin is one of the last blokes on our list I would think of when it comes to not hitting a contest hard.

Martin works harder and cracks in harder than 95% of the comp. Probably more.

He has been such a huge part of our resurgence

100% spot on. We've had an element of luck in both games and about time luck eventually went our way but can't keep relying on it.
Last week, we left Salem free for a shot on goal from 50. Thankfully it fell short. Yesterday at least 3 times in the last we failed to have a body anywhere near Anderson at a stoppage. It nearly cost us the game. Reckon he nails that goal more often than not. Pretty sure he set up a goal from another stoppage too. Whoever is our stoppage coach better be ripping absolute shreds off whoever was meant to be on him.
This tactic in the dying minutes of continually letting the opposition have repeat entries isn't going to work every week.
Thank flower it came off last 2 weeks and yes we have improved in those situations somewhat from last year but still have a way to go.
Still, the boys showed a lot of character to come back after falling nearly 2 goals behind in the last.

100%. If we want sustained success we need to be looking to the future and not just no.17

That’s why I’m against tying up money in Gresham. Would rather focus more on long term players unless they are guaranteed best 22 players or we get them super cheap

To be fair though, we’re really not that old…

Curnow 34
Docherty 30
Cripps 28
Hewett 27
Kennedy 26
Cerra 23
Walsh 23

You include Curnow in our midfield mix? Ok mate.

Agreed. Watched the last two mins and the ball basically spent the entire time in the Suns half.

What I was trying to show, and I shouldve said it, in support of your point, Ed makes room for yet another potential good young mid to support the incumbents in later years.

Not long home from a few days on the sunny Gold Coast.
It was pretty hot up there and was pretty worried about the game.
There were lots of Carlton supporters, probably 3/4 of the crowd.
The game itself was torture, after such as bad start at least we got back into the game. I thought we had blown it in the dying minutes and Charlie is a freak.
Kicking 1 goal 6 in the third nearly cost us.
The players looked so relieved when the siren went, we were as well.
Had a wonderful 3 days, great weather, saw half of the players on the beach on the morning of the match.
Got to see an Air Show that I had no idea was on until last Thursday.
Go blues.

Charlie has 114 votes in the MVP meaning some nuffy didn't give him 5. Whoever that was, hang your head in shame and do a lap.

He single handedly brought us back from the dead TWICE and then went back took the match winning Leo Barry mark.

He was on a different planet.

Watched the mini match and agreed the sun/shade effect is a shocker, I'm not going to bother with the replay, it's unwatchable.

It was challenging being there too, particularly in the full sun.

Yep when we sat in our seats and copped the baking sun, I thought we were in trouble.

The first quarter ratified my fears - somehow we pulled it out of the fire after that. Amazing character to come away with the win.

We've used our get out of jail card, and given the conditions I will excuse the team for being flat at the start, but we can't be doing that in finals.

I was standing on the opposite end to where Charlie did most of his magic up forward, watching the Kayo Mini last night - wow, that was peak Kouta-esque. We are truly blessed to have him.

Also Nic Newman again was amazing. Don't care if he makes the AA team or not but he is surely a smokey.

After watching replay again there were a few that had howlers of games
Probably the worst game I have seen from TDK
Not sure if it was Cincotta / Fisher /Kemp marking Swallow but they need to take a good look at themselves
We allowed Flanders off the hook
Thought their midfield were far better
Harry was disappointing
Cunners struggled
Cripps way down
Thought Doc was a bit off as well

thank God for Charlie Weiters and Newman
Motlop stepped up once again after being quiet last week

Thanks missnaut - we really do stink it up 'up here' - very rare we see a win. Nice to get it and guarantee a finals berth.

Really did feel like a home game though, the crowd was very very blue. Suns players lining up for goal and being 'booed and geered' so loud the Suns would have thought it wasn't a home game!!

PS the scoreboard clock gave me heart spasms - damn this was well over 34min when the siren went - I couldn't have wished for that sound more

PPS sitting in the damn sun sucks too - they need to play night games only at that crapheap of a ground
