one more and I'll stop, I promise.

(I wrote about this one some years back) late evening in Lygon street, middle of winter I'm walking home from the pub, my favourite long woolen coat on, in fro behind me is Ragsy Goold, a woman in each arm, he turns to me, now Ragsy was my player - I cannot tell you how many times I practiced kicking the ball "Ragsy style", I wore the ankle guards like Ragsy, though never the wrist bands (though I wanted to). At the lights Ragsy says, "how much for the coat?"

Ragsy wanted to buy the coat! I just smiled and said "not for sale, Ragsy.." We looked at each other, ne nodded and headed off with the women and I walked home smiling all the way.

Yes the Kouta games at PP when he was on another level. The the Swans game from memory. When he grabbed it from the ruck and goaled. That was insane.

Yes I think the 12 goal quarter at PP. It was an avalanche. Mosquito Fleet.

Any love for Minton Connell on the boundary 50m out to win the game? Was there for that too.

Round 17 1998, I had traveled down from Sydney to watch the blues at Princes Park, not expecting much as we were near the bottom of the ladder and Footscray were on top. The Footscray supporters were incredibly arrogant before the start of the match.

We absolutely smashed them and Whitnall kicked something like 8 goals, I was by myself in the standing room surrounded by dogs supporters, I remember laughing and high fiving with other random blues supporters the entire match as the sullen Dogs supporters looked on. A marvellous afternoon.

Top floor of the Olympic Stand at the centenary match against Collingwood in 92.

The build up to this game through the week was epic!

When was the Centenary game ...yeah yeah...100 years after 1894, at the G, so 1994.
I can't remember it.

It was for Pies centenary in 1992

The game you're thinking of was NYE 1999/2000. And I think it was at the MCG not Waverley. I'm not 100% sure though....I was at a rave in the bush

My First Game was the Last Round of 1969 against the Dirty Rottens at Windy Hill. I was 16 and was down in Melbourne staying with my Sister who had married an Essendon* Supporter. After trailing Essendon* early on The Mighty Blues kicked 9 in the 3rd and hung on in the last to win. What a Thrill to see Big Nick, Jezza etc in the Flesh after only seeing them occasionally on TV. And it was an absolute bonus to see my Hero Jezza kick 7. A Magic Day I shall never forget.

For the 99 Prelim I was on my death bed with the worst man flu I have ever had. Caz was obviously concerned because she went to the game. Mad if she didn't really

I awoke and turned on the radio to hear the commentators going off their collective nut, a minute after the final siren.

Caz was somewhat feral when she got home. I was still dying and she was bouncing off the walls with joy.

Ain't love grand.

Go Blues.

Regards Cazzesman

I was at most of those listed so far. (Too young for some of them.)

Can now say I was at the G Dees Bee's Dick win of '23.

I think the '99 prelim is still the most satisfying that I attended because of narrow losses in the preceding year or two and their insufferable supporters, including their lining up for GF tix before they'd made it.

Favourite moment (apart from the final siren - take that ha ha ha): I witnessed Kouta in real time making a dash down the wing to take his first great goal square grab of the last quarter. That was a moment. I could see what he was doing well before he arrived to the surprise of a building pack. I was certain that Murphy also saw him out of the corner of his eye when he delivered the well-weighted kick. Replays just can't do justice to it. I was overlooking the flank where Kouta started his run. He had no right marking that. The already white-hot atmosphere went nuts from there, as our feverish tribe just about started levitating with belief. What a day.

Great Carlton Moments:

I was there looking down from above the back flank when in the dying seconds Charlie Curnow took the game saving mark in the goal square that propelled Carlton into the finals again after it's longest finals drought in its history.

I was at that game in 1992, but in the top deck of the brand new Great Southern Stand.

What a great game.....Massive build up during the week, huge crowd (about 88k from memory?), Sticks kicked 7, Anthony Franchina scragged and Ronnie Delulio had a few classic moments, when the crowd went nuts.

As a young kid, I couldn't believe how steep the top deck of the Great Southern Stand was. Felt like you were going to fall over the barriers when walking out.

Yep it was 83k

Not sure Francina was playing then, maybe you're thinking of Matty Hogg or someone.

Andrew Cavedon was also good that night...I ended up working with his nephew a few years ago :)

I think I’ve told this 99 prelim story here before but….

We were in Bali and managed to get an early checkin to our hotel room, we were upgraded to a villa and as we walked in to the villa I saw a large TV. Now this was before you could get instant updates and new on the internet but I knew Carlton was playing that day, so I turned the TV to have a look at the Australian Network TV channel as I knew they often broadcast the footy. As I tuned in the game was just starting so I settled in and spent the day watching the match, much to my wife’s annoyance.
