What does a team without Pitto or TDK look like?

ie One recognised ruck with Harry giving the ruck a chop out.

How many minutes would Harry be expected to ruck, not by Voss, but by posters?

If we went in with 1 ruck, the sub would have to be a recognised ruck. Agree? Don't agree?

5 minutes per quarter for Harry. TDK could play 80% and would probably thrive on it.
As for the sub, why would we have a ruck? We already have 2 x 200cm+ players running around. Play JSOS as the sub if you want insurance.
As for what a team looks like without TDK or Pitto, look at the wins you mentioned below. Or the previous 4 wins with 2 x 200cm+ players instead of TDK and Harry.
Or look at how Melbourne is handling 2 ruckmen. Grundy dropped again this week? I'm not asking Harry to become our first ruck. Just to have a run for 5 minutes per quarter. It's not that revolutionary.

you poor little mutton chop!

arguably the best ruck duo - Darcy and Jackson in freo, and without a ruckman we went to their house and slapped them sideways.

that's what a team without pitto or tdk looks. my advice is to keep tdk, use sos as the back up with harry and charlie doing their thing up front while one ruck rests forward.

I can agree with points made, not the mutton bit, but the rest. I get it. I like it. If that's the way it pans out, great.

I can't see how the most disappointing team in 2023, playing the way they have, is going to be an environment conducive to thriving for Jackson and Darcy. Voss would make them work with our players around them. But I get your point.

You and I know that the method we are playing footy, for the last 2 months, is working because of the buy in by every Carlton player.

The way we have been playing and are playing we can still win with or without Pitto against GCS against Witts, and against GWS with no ruck threat.

I'm just looking at what's likely to be our team vs the Opposition in Finals, and hopefully get them playing together as much as possible before the break, and Finals.I think that's what's happening before our eyes, and I really like it. I relate to it.

I've always been strong on this about ruckmen in Finals.
If the ruck position is a threat against us, we must not give them the ascendency, and deliver silver service to ther mids.
Horses for courses. Not all opposition rucks are the same. There's big ones, huge ones, and really really big ones and freaks, like Sandilands. Thank god he's not around.
If something happens to our only weapon in the ruck, our one and only one wood where does that leave our structure?
In a Final, or would play Pitto vs Witts. Tomorrow I couldnt give a stuff, but if that's what Vossy is doing now, he's surely putting the band together to get a couple of games together.

What other teams do has nothing to do with us.
Whatever their threat is in a Final does.

If Pitto went down in a GF and TDK had to go 100% against Gawn, without a chop out, he would last 75% game time at 24yo.
SOS vs Gawn? Really?
Harry vs Gawn? Really?

Leave May & Lever to dominate Charlie?

Nah, everyone gets up and about in a GF, even Pitto would.
W want us to be ready to counter a prick like Neil Balme will throw at us. We are bullet proof.

I wouldnt be surprised if Goodwin played Grundy as the sub in a GF, coz if Gawn gets injured....

We can beat anyone now, with or without Pitto.
We can play TDK 80% of time tomorrow vs Witts, and 20% Harry. Have SOS as a sub incase.
We would still win handsomely.

Vossy has chosen not to go that way, and we will win handsomely.

I dont like 1 ruck in Finals, and never have. My history shows that. Never, unless we have 10 of Sam Walsh.
Voss will tell the story about Keating "Sept specialist" coming back for GFs after missing more than half of each season,
Keating came in to support Charman against the big boys and it all started and finished in the 2 bonafide rucks. The Fab 4 went to work from there.
Don't worry, Keating needed Charman in battle, as much as it was the other way around. That's where Voss comes from.

In Finals we are going out to war; to make history; to turn the tables.

I have a hunch Goodwin would choose to have Grundy as insurance in a GF. Can you imagine what Dees would look like without Gawn? Its all opinions.

We just have to see how it pans out, then try and understand what worked, or what didnt.

Looks like Ed and Honey not playing 2s so I'd hazard a guess Ed will be sub and Honey emergency

No Plowman either. Hope we aren't losing a defender.

Surely S.Durdin and Young would be ahead of Plow if we needed another tall defender?
If we needed a small to medium both Boyd and Cowan ahead of him.
Guessing he is out injured.

Plowman is playing well in the reserves.

Sunny but windy.

SOS and LOB look a bit rusty with their kicking.
Silvagni, I get, but LOB can't hit a target with an easy pass. Elite kick Pffft.
Young 7 intercept marks.

Yep 2 rucks for me.
Esp with the new rules.
And our forte is contested football. Clearances.
It all starts with getting hands on it.
Love SOS but as a ruck there's always a chance he gets obliterated in 5 to 10 mins amd the game becomes out of reach.

9:10 am Melbourne to Gold Coast flight with virgin got cancelled....luckily I managed to get onto the Brisbane flight and mate can pick me up from here now and make it on time, but I dare say a few blues fans have had their plans ruined.

A full reserves game AND 15 minutes in the ones for Boyd?

That’s a big day.
