It's now fair to say we are the in form team of the competition.
What is scary is the players we have to come back into the team!
Walsh, Cerra, McKay, McGovern, Kennedy and Silvagni.
While it takes a great team to win a premiership, it also takes a great squad toget us there.
If we do succeed in September it will be more about the squad that got us there
than just the 23 players in the team on any given day.
Well done to all concerned!

I don't think we actually hugged each other.

Sounds like where I was sitting. I hugged someone in the row behind me.
What a night.
First the Matildas and then a bit of payback from last year.
Surely we will play finals.

I'll add this to the "2023 Team Setting Records" thread but in the post game euphoria worth adding here:

Our 8 games in a row now qualifies us for a Flag.

Only the 1906-07, '47 & '81 Premiership teams failed to achieve the feat of winning 8 games in a row.

That's right - 12 of our Premiership teams All won at least 8 in a row.

In fact, Carlton has had 8 or more wins in a row in 25 seasons for these results:

24 finals series
17 Grand Finals
12 Premierships

So yes, we are 2-1 on for a GF and almost even money for Flag.

Pros:

Pressure and effort.
Everyone contributed.
Hewett, Newman, Acres, Cripps.
Good 2nd half from TDK, Dow, Hollands.
Cincotta did a good job against Pickett.
Loved the pressure of Fogarty and Martin.
Much better games from Marchbank and Pittonet.
Another good game from Fisher.
Crowd roar at the end.

Cons:

Again couldn't turn early dominance into scores.
Weren't able to hold a comfortable lead very long the couple of times we got there.

We certainly are!

In fact, if we can keep GC & GWS to under 50 pts each, this Carlton 2023 team will have an average points against
Lower than all but 6 teams in the last 55 years.

And lower than ANY premiership team in that time.

"Best Defence" indeed.

I think the first one was actually HTB against Charlie, & it was there

This is such a unique Carlton side. I haven't seen anything like it

Exactly. That's why AFL football has one of the stupidest rules where only the players that play and win the grand final get a medal. Every player that played in a game during the season deserves a premiership medal.

I agree .
Not stacked with brilliance like great Carlton sides of the past but they have a desire and commitment like I have never seen before.
There willingness to work hard and get to every contest is something to behold.
Even on their losing run where it came down to inaccurate shots on goal they were still busting their butts

It’s been fantastic footy over the last two months, haven’t seen that for many many years. I just can’t really figure out what switch was turned on eight weeks ago. It’s almost like who stole Carlton and replaced them with a team that had four quarter commitment, played for each other and didn’t stuff up so much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving it, but the contrast is staggering, nine or so weeks of mediocrity, then eight weeks of hard, find a way to win football. What happened? Whatever it was, kudos to the footy staff, the players and the club and let’s keep it up. Go Blues!

Camp Curnow is considering a 4 star hotel on site, spa and conference facilities and offering "wellness weekends".

Offers are invited from interested parties for sponsorship, and or franchise options.

Across 4 quarters he was trash. He cost us goals. You can’t take one of 22 positions in the team for a couple of good tap outs.

Oh yes you can if Vossy and the MC ask him to do a job

Will def be looked at cos some irrelevant clown 50 metres away paid a free. Absolutely nothing in it though but corrupt Christian will probably give him a week.

Thankfully the goal umpire called the Marchbank incident touched. Was always going to be hard to overturn his decision once called touched. The system working as it should. Plenty of fuss in the media about nothing.
