Staggering.

5 weeks ago, we were staring down the barrel of one of the worst seasons in recent memory. Now, statistically at least, it's going to be one of the best.

One of the best?

How long have you supported Carlton?

I'm just old enough to remember 95. :P

UPDATE

1. No other team has won 6 games in a row outside the top 8 as Carlton have just done
except sadly GWS became the first to do it last week.

2. Carlton now only the third team to defeat both top two teams from outside the 8 in a two week period.

previously...
2019 Hawthorn in rds 16, 18 d Coll 2nd then Geelong 1st
2005 Collingwood in rds 9, 11 d WC 1st then Geelong 2nd

In total Carlton's achievement is only the 10th time a team outside the 8 has beaten the two top teams in the same season.

(the others: St.K 1995 rds 8, 15 / WC 1998 rds 2, 10 / Port 2006 rds 12, 21 / Ess* 2009 rds 3, 20 / Ad 2010 rds 11, 16 / Ess* 2018 rds 4, 14 / GWS 2021 rds 16, 21)

Trivia:
1997 was a ridiculous year...
9 times the team on top of the ladder was beaten by a team outside the 8 !

Carlton have now climbed from 15th to 5th in the same season despite losing 6 in a row

This has only been done once before:

2017 - Sydney lost first 6 games then from 18th climbed to 5th in rd.21 on % ahead of Port
They kept winning but slipped behind Port on % to finish 6th on the ladder.

as prompted by diesel in the "R21: STK Vs Carlton (Post match Discussion)"...

Only once before has Carlton scored less than 3.4:22 by half time, been down by more than 22 points and come back to win by at least 3 goals...

rd. 1, 1992 Half time score:
Carlton 2.9:21
Brisbane Bears 7.6:48
Final score:
Carlton 13.14:92
Brisbane: 10.8: 68

Also, our 41 point turn around v St.Kilda today is the 16th biggest of all time from a 20+ point half time deficit.

Today's win is the biggest half-time deficit come-back in 10 years.
(2013 Elim. Fin v Richmond - 26 pt deficit at half time)

The Dogs got it done winning 4 finals in a row
Very good chance it will happen again this year
All top 4 teams are vulnerable
Melbourne are playing the best footy out of those 4 teams but if you can break down their defence then they struggle

I was hosting a housewarming party (in Carlton) that night aged 18. Saw we were going shit, stopped watching, decided to join the party, got really pissed on Carlton Colds, came back, saw we won, went mental & made a dick of myself

I think that was the game where a Bears player got a massive hip & shoulder from Ron De Iulio. I woke up the next day feeling the same way

You were only 18. You're allowed to act your age.

Now that you're all grown up in your 40's, you've got no excuse....yeah right.

I think I would rather be on the receiving end of a massive hip and shoulder from Ron De Iulio than a hangover from sucking down too many Carlton Colds....

Those beer-flavoured ice creams certainly made you heed the message from the "Alcohol - how will you feel tomorrow" TV ads!

We’d have to go back to 1978 - to see a similar Carlton resurgence- we had 1 win and 5 losses at round 6 and we’re pretty much in last spot - when Jezza was appointed coach and went on to win 13 of the next 16 games to finish 4th

Our 8 games in a row now qualifies us for a Flag.

Only the 1906-07, '47 & '81 Premiership teams failed to achieve the feat of winning 8 games in a row.

That's right - 12 of our Premiership teams All won at least 8 in a row.

In fact, Carlton has had 8 or more wins in a row in 25 seasons for these results:

24 finals series
17 Grand Finals
12 Premierships

So yes, we are 2-1 on for a GF and almost even money for Flag.
