Good chance next week against Port who may be due for a loss
Great tackling and team footy
Great pressure
Great to win 3 in a tow but what tgf helm was happening in those middle 8 weeks
Play like that you beat Swans bulldogs and Aints at least

yeah, i'm gonna say i was wrong... i only watched most of the second half, and while Martin didnt set the world on fire (i'm never gonna be a huge fan) i thought he was involved physically more than i can remember

Special mention to Fogarty. He always looked like a top-up in previous seasons with no obvious weapons, but since breaking into the team again, he's shown some real nouse and firepower. (I had a sense he wasn't going to be denied that goal, however he got it.) I don't know if it's been fitness, confidence, experience, a lack of a clear role... I hope he can build from here.

I'm on the Jack bandwagon, and not coz of his lineage. Yes, he's always looked banged-up and fringe and maybe a little lost but stuffed if I want to see him will another team across the line in a big final instead of us. Apart from his passion, he has a good footy brain and a utility's ability to play big and small, back and forward. He has his own x-factor - not anything like a Charlie C, but some x nonetheless. Stick with him.

Saad - his finesse and timing, not just his speed, are top notch and game-saving. Sorry for stating what must be obvious.

Relative newbies like Cincotta and Boyd are slotting in nicely - stability has been a problem for us.

Our pillars, with apols to others at the furnace (mixed metaphors for sale): Weitering - what a gun, finding his best form and damn near irreplaceable; Cripps or Walsh - having one firing is crucial, both at the same time makes all the difference for our finals prospects; and Charlie or Harry - same principle, we're lucky to have a spare if the other's not firing, but when they're both on song, just get it down there (not from the clouds though, please).

Happy.

'Upset' win next week please. You can do it.

havent lost a game that Fog has played in this year......

Martin has always been a tough player. I think the current gamestyle suits the forward pockets and flankers more than the old way we were playing.

I wish Martin kicked for goal like he wanted it to go through the big sticks though. Looks like he is happy to just get it in the general area of the goals.

I think having guys like JSOS, Hewett, Ed, and Fog in our bottom six makes us a good team, you know they’ll come in and give you maximum effort.

Was either a corky or knee on knee in marking contest with Weitering. I think he'll be ok.

Weitering gave him a massive corkie when they both went for the same mark.

Big corkie with a flight back to melb, might not come up. Maybe Young could drop back to Gov's role if TDK comes in.

What I like now is we have these guys but also Hollands Binns Marchbank Dow Carroll Cowan Motlop playing well in the 2's and pushing them for spots. Not to mention Pittinet TDK to come back shortly

Nothing like compteition for spots to make people play better

The workrate and defensive pressure of Cuningham Martin & Fogarty has helped our scoring dramatically

Pros:

Tackling and pressure. For the third week in a row.
Once again a good spread of goalkickers.
Walsh, Cerra, Weiters, Newman, Harry, Acres, Kennedy.
Some of Fogarty's tacking in the forward 50 was incredible.

Cons:

Home crowd umpiring.
Home crowd commentary.
Cuningham, McGovern, Cincotta, Boyd and Kemp were pretty quiet.

...but all did their jobs.
Kemp had a few brain fades but he also did his job.

thought Gov had some great key-moment one-on -ones in the first half when it was still a live game where he out muscled a key freo forward. smart enough to know Owies was at his goal kicking range limit and ran by for a classic defenders goal from outside 50m.

no defensive soft efforts or stupid turnovers, didn't spoil Weiters or Kemp marking it once, I can't ask for much more than that.

So this game was played from opening bounce to final siren in the spirit of Fraser "Mad Dog" Brown. A quality I've be lamenting the absence of for a couple of seasons now. For those saying Freo were/are useless, their pressure rating in Q1 was elite and only a few points under ours. they were there to play, had some poor goal kicking etc which made them look worse than the effort they were playing with. ( what we saw during our drought period this season, it saps a team's confidence across a game to keep missing reward).

Full credit for Voss and the coaches for finally getting this drummed into this playing group to the point that they both believe it and execute. I think it was starting to be evident in some of our losses and Voss was right to say we don't judge platyers on the results so much as them exciting a game style and plan we are directing towards. Media saying the Blues game plan has been simplified somewhat in the last 2 or 3 weeks, under direction from some of the leading players, if that's true, good evolution, good leadership in knowing how to get the entire list on board.

Tackles, breaking opponent tackles and a near perfect balance of defensive/attacking pressure and swinging from defence to offence with overwhelming power all day. Walsh was perfect in his inside/outside role knowing when to cover Serong etc and when to stay wide. Cerra continues to be Mr Reliable. Cripps knew his limitations, wish he'd gone for that goal on bursting thru 50 metre arc though! Not a single passenger.

I am glad Serong got a week for his sling on Cera. That was so unnecessary, and a slightly harder hit on the head and we risk losing Cera with concussion in this game and out next week.

Rubbish effort from Serong.

Disagree it was a bullshit suspension
I think they will appeal and get off.

 So if his head hits the ground a fraction harder and he gets concussion, you say ‘play on’?

What was the point of smashing him to the ground with one arm pinned and the other holding the ball. How does he protect himself?
