I posted yesterday that someone on BF mentioned he may not play.

Only we can have our whole midfield wiped out in one game, amazing

Carlton’s last 65 shots at goal.
21 goals
29 points
15 out on the full or no score

Also.

In the last two weeks, Carlton have gone inside 50, 110 times for a return of just 13 goals. Wouldn't have thought teams are overly worried about an opponent that goals from only 9% of entries

Fix this and all problems are solved

Until they do we are beating no one.

It's not all Harry either

Jon Ralph (I think) said Pittonet had a scan on his hand and Hollands is med-long term.

So you'd assume Pittonet is out for a week even if not broken and Hollands is potentially done for the season.

It's worse than that. Last 3 weeks we've kicked 21.41 (and 13.30 in the past 2 weeks). I don't have the numbers for out on full/ no score but yours sound about right.

Season so far
272 shots on goal
118 goals total
136 behinds

If we had halved the shots on goal and kicked 136 we would have won at least 3-4 more games

It is pretty clear what the issues are

I'd be interested in some stat nerd to do some analyis on where we are getting our shots from (and how many of the behinds are rushed). The eye test to me is that it's not like all these misses are from deep in the pockets - they are pretty basic shots at goal that are just being missed through poor execution. Which comes back to either preparation or fatigue - both of which go to fitness.

If only we could lower eyes going inside 50, we may be a smoky.

38 behinds have been rushed - so we have scored 118 98 from 272 shots

In other news Melbourne have ruled out rushing back Clayton Oliver for this Friday’s match - obviously think they don’t need him - and they probably don’t.

Random but damning stat: in 4 games this year we’ve had goalless quarters.

The biggest problems in the middle from my observation is that we lack confidence and support. We have been fumbling, esp Crippa, and tentative. So we kind of get first hands on the ball but without the control and positive mindset to do something good with it. Our other mids then are worried about spreading that they forget to hang around to get and relay the ball. We need to organise that better.
Early last year, Cripps or Kennedy or Hewett would get the ball and push the ball forward irrespective of how many people were hanging off them and the ball would emerge at speed from the pack. Then teams started to block our fast exits and that’s when we were found wanting. We need to get that back but then also make teams pay a penalty if they choose to block our exits. Geelong did this last year by forcing teams to expose themselves if they chose to stop, say, Blicavs through the middle.
The second most noticeable deficiency that I can see is lack of movement and hence options ahead of the ball carrier. Right across the ground from kick outs to kicking inside 50.
We seem to be stationary, forcing a kick to a pack.
Opposition teams seem to be able to kick out to the advantage of a running player who then gets an uncontested mark and has further options with lots of movement ahead of the ball.
I have seen players running past the ball carrier and often ignored but very little movement ahead of the ball.

I suspect Crippa will come out fuming on Fri night. Hope he brings others along with him with the mindset that nothing will stop him.

Go back and take a look at the mark he took in the 3rd quarter. He was crunched and was sitting on bench with track top on.
Only came back on due to injuries to Hewett Cripps Holland and Newman

When it rains it pours.

Durdin and Hollands needed a spell, but not that long.

Pitto signs a 4 year deal, breaks his hand, lol cant make this up.
