What is the player’s energy like before the game? Do they look defeated before they start?

On the radio they said something like carlton have trailled at 3/4 time 15 times under Michael Voss, and have only won 1 of them. I am thinking that 1 time might have been that first game against Richmond last year. Long time between drinks and the complete flip flop to colons coach

Well Collingwood have made the final qtr comeback their personality but yeah, not a great stat.

51 inside 50's with ~12 of those going straight to Moore.

We really have such a deficiency with no dangerous medium tall third forward to go to. SOS tries hard but he is simply not enough of a threat to the opposition. Slow as a wet week & a lousy kick. I wasn't all for Gunston at the time but he would have been a great get (or did he have his heart set on Brisbane?). In the end we decided to overcorrect our wings issue instead.

Owies gave us his usual professional output but that set shot miss in Q3 hurt a lot, as did the Cerra one, same quarter.

Charlie was our best player & gave the required intensity & passion for 4 quarters. Doc was pretty good too but didn't do enough damage with his touches.

Boyd I was nervous about bringing in for such a big game, & it showed. Although he did some nice work in Q3.

Overall decision making & execution were terrible, & the whole game was carbon copy of the St K & Brisbane games, & to a lesser extent the Footscray game.

Voss needs to coach next year but I'd like to see how he goes with more kids & less Carlton-scarred players in the team. If we traded 2 of TDK, Weiters, SOS we could have 4 or 5 picks in the first 25. We seriously need to start thinking along those lines before it's too late.

Well done to all who went along. I stayed home & watched with my 10 y.o. He was playing games on the ipad after quarter time & I couldn't blame him.

Loved Voss's presser after the game.

I hope he turns things around. But if he doesn't, I hope he goes down swinging.

Any player who complains about copping a spray, show them the door. I want the hard as a cat's head Voss for the rest of the year.

These boys have been treated with kid gloves for too long. Time for them to man up.

Yes. No point letting these players be the tail wagging the dog. Charlie Curnow is the only player on the list that could possibly attempt to do that.

Yes lets scar a whole new generation of Carlton players

That's not an intended shot at you by the way, rather I can see it happening which is terribly sad.

I am waiting for BV to enter the frame.
Highly critical of Harry's game on Moore a few years back I am expecting the exact same criticism of Charles.
Moore game on Charlie eclipse anything he did on Harry.

I don't think we can be too critical of the tall forwards.

The delivery all year has been putrid, and Charlie is still leading the Coleman.

Harry kicked much better yesterday. If I am critical of anything it is he still doesn't work hard enough in the air in one on one's.

But by and large, I thought those 2 were quite good given the game style is diabolically bad.

Maybe they didn't execute a plan in terms of dragging Moore away but I wouldn't know that.

Someone told me to watch out for the 2 second rule in this game.
As in, only in extraordinary circumstances will a pies player hold the ball more than 2 seconds, and conversely no blues player will let go of the ball within 2 seconds.
Watch any 10 minutes of any quarter and you will be astounded at the amount of times it happens.

Voss says we're working on things and need to do better for longer.
Cripps says exactly the same.
Docherty almost word for word again today.
Clearly Lloyd or Cooky is giving them notes or scripted lines.
Love to see SOME RESULTS of what they've been working on.
Navel fluff.

Remember when Walsh was being compared to Selwood ?
Alas now it's Scott or Adam, not Joel.

Watched entire ressies game in 200 mph gale at Willy.
Astounding that 2 18yo kids, as in Harley Reid and today Nate Caddy look so far advanced and future stars than blokes on decent coin on our list for 5 plus years.
Caddy will be next Josh Kennedy, the WC one.
TDK played his best game all year, surely returns v Swans. Dow got 40 again, was everywhere, but Voss doesn't like his haircut I think so he will stay in vfl.
Binns was great again, he should maybe take Hollands spot ?
Marchbank played whole game, rusty as an old gate but got through.
For those asking about Martin....you will love this sports fans....he didn't play at all as he has reinjured his calf.
I nearly spilt my beer when Power's off sider casually stated it.
Bye bye Jack.

However, undoubted highlight of the game was a remarkable TDK goal assist.
Boundary throw in near wing position,TDK takes possession out of ruck contest, does a blind 360 like he's on a Luna Park ride, thumps it long to the goal square, bang, crumbed goal.
Only problem was he kicked it the wrong way, to the Willy goal square, goal to Willy off the pack crumbed snap.
Priceless.

Cutting to the chase the team has problems all over the park.
Notionally we could be 13th after next round if we lose.
That's not so great really is it ?

2024 will be interesting :)

The 2 second rule ??? We're still transitioning from the 2 minute rule

Think we're both wrong.

We have a 2 quarter rule, as in wait 2 quarters then turn up to play, of sorts.

Oh no we can be critical.
If you are a forward you need to defend as well as attack and if you are not in a position to mark the ball you need to at least halve the contest and bring it to ground.
Despite what Vossy says 90% of our issues are the forward 50. It's Charlie Harry or bust.
The smalls don't score enough don't crumb very well don't provide enough defensive pressure on the ball coming out.
We don't have a 3rd option as JSOS is not a 3rd forward arse hole. If there was one Charlie could have taken Moore away from the ball.
We need other forwards who are capable of kicking 3 to 4 goals in the event Charlie and Harry are getting beaten.
It doesn't help when they allow defensive to take intercepting marks usually uncontested

Moore had the luxury of the ball being delivered to him like he was the Carlton forward.

Rubbish where was his direct opponent to provide contest
If the forwards aren't working hard enough to provide options the players bringing the ball in have no option but to bomb it to the blokes flapping their arms

……..Couldn’t possibly counter both

Did he really say that?
If so, “Wow”.
So this is what barracking for non-Carlton sides in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s felt like?
