McGuire was banging on about the noise about to come out of Carlton…they need to STFU and win games. I couldn’t give a fat rats clacker what crap they talk, results are the only thing that matters.

I would guess that 50% of the 85 points from turnover were in the D50 or defenders and wings up the ground. Weitering 12 points at least. Acres, dunno involved in chains of play that conceded about 40 points? Infuriating at least. Young 2 or 3 goals? The handball to opponent was the final straw for Voss. They all had shockers. Footy gods were out to mock any overblown egos that read too much into the Perth training drill. We can bounce back. Our defence hasn’t ever been that bad. Never seen Cripps and Walsh both play a shocker on the same day.

Someone at afl did an expose of Lions tagging Saad as he tried to run past the free kicker for a run and carry. They all did it and just blocked him out of any impact on the game. We need a player to chop out for him or some other ideas if other clubs do that again. He’s too important to us to be tagged out in those set play defensive transitions.

This is almost the exact issue.
Instead of a player blocking for Saad, we needed other players to step up so blocking Saad became an unviable option for them.
This is why we are so easy to shut down, they only have to tag out a few key players as nobody else can or does step up.

I'l like to see a bit more mongrel/agro in Weitering & Young

100% and they're not alone.
I really feel for Weitering at the moment, losing all your savings would be devastating for a young bloke, especially one that comes across so emotionally mature.
The takeaway from the Wet Coat game for me was when we were just monstering their players.
I know we can't match other sides every week with body size like that as we are still a fairly young list, but I'd like to think the players would want to play like they are bigger than what they are.
The loss last week showed issues that are concerning (like disposals and decision making), however the severity of the loss is a bit of a storm in a teacup because Brisbane are a very good and more mature side.
I reckon the players will come out and make a statement on Saturday, it'll be a tough game but if we can lift our disposal efficiency by about 5%-10% in the F50 we should be in for a chance to take the W.
And with 3-4 list changes for the game to make a bit of a statement to the rest of the team and hope the game is more player driven this week.

Mostly agree.
Except Beveridge will be telling his boys that “they’ll come out to make a statement but just keep up your pressure and eventually they’ll crack, like they always do”.
That is our challenge. And it is a challenge to maintain our intensity and composure throughout each game, and also for each game.
We have created our own ‘brand’ and the onus is on us to change it.
I’m convinced half of Collingwood’s success is based on opposition teams mental fear of their final quarter comebacks. We are framed in the opposite way. Needs to change. Voss needs to imprint upon us a similar dominating mindset that characterised his Lions dynasty. Jono Brown, the Scott brothers, Voss himself… the legendary toughness of Nigel Lappin. (Plus a bit of our ‘79-82 Blues toughness wouldn’t hurt either… )

Very good squad. Still need Martin for the HF line but really we can't complain now.

Yes I would have dropped Jack and kept Kemp in the side.

Correct given the romance and the Carlton propensity.

How I'd line up

B: Cincotta Young McGovern
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Durdin Curnow Walsh
F: Silvagni McKay Motlop
Foll: Pittonet Hewett Cerra
Int: Kennedy (mid) Owies (fwd) Cottrell (mid/fwd) Newman (def)
Boyd(sub)

Charlie to play further up the ground
McKay deep
Walsh as extra mid
Kennedy has to play mid NOT defence
Team defence on Bont

On paper this side is good enough to win
