You're right. Boyd may be better than Kemp. Otherwise, our backs may be too tall.

This team looks good to me. I wonder though if Boyd needs another week in the VFL to obtain full fitness.

I am a massive Boyd fan but he needs a week or so. He was blowing up in the 2's today

Way to tall today ... very top heavy ... showed when the ball hit the ground

This is West Coast’s Grand Final, they’ll be up and about and throwing the kitchen sink at us, knowing that our poor game plan and mental fragility is their best chance of a win, we’ll as per usual travel interstate poorly, not be switched on and of course the AFL will appoint home town umpire Nathan Williamson to really screw us over as well, not that he will be needed.

Nice. I truly don't think it will happen. But it should. E. Curnow, Honey, Motlop, Durdin were insipid vs StKilda. Damn I was disappointed in Motlop. He was a headless chook. No energy, no attitude and no desire to impact. Terrible effort.

Cowan a touch unlucky, but he needs a kill. If he’s 50-60 possessions and a couple dozen tackles away from dialling it in at senior level, let’s get cracking on that.

B: Newman Weitering Young
HB: Acres McGovern Cincotta
C: Walsh Hewett Hollands
R: Pittonet Cripps Cerra
HF: Kemp McKay Kennedy
F: Durdin Curnow Motlop

I: Binns, Silvagni, Carroll, Ed, Boyd

Ed or Boyd as the sub. Saad ahead of Boyd if right to go.

Binns & Carroll both come in as wing/half forward. If we’re going to persist with bringing those half forwards up the ground, we could at least provide a contest.

The wce game plan will be to drop some players back. Carlton will match them up and continually bomb to curnow and Mackay, then Eagles play the paddock when bursting out of the congestion

Oh yes I forgot, SPS the penny will drop, and he will spot up 60 metre pin point passes running out of the back line.

We will dominate the game all day but kick 8 goals 25 points and struggle to win by around 15 points.

The big question is whether the coach will make any substantial changes, and we all know that means adding more run and speed to the team.

He would need to show some gonads and try some kids and that in not just the likes of Binns but also Kemp who while not quick can nonetheless take the game on especially from the back half.

Is the coach going to take a risk or keep with the status quo and play the full group of slow onballers, putting one of them on a quality small forward again.

The coach should also be talking to Harry about kicking drop punts from 25m out on Harry's non favoured side. And about what kick he should go with when he is 45m out. These conversations should have been had 12 months ago.

There might be one shock change but chances are the coach will stay with the same players.

I don't necessarily think it is a bad thing the coach backs a group in. Chopping and changing is no good for a host of reasons. But my issue is I think the midfield leans too much in the way of slow players.

The coach surely has to ask the players to take the game on more, doesn't he? I fear if we keep holding the ball and kicking sideways we give WC a chance.

Get the midfield balance right and be more aggressive with ball movement generally is what I would like to see. Dow might go OK on the wider expanses over there.

Concern is it is still early in the year and coaches often don't make significant change until it is too late.

I am spooked by that WCE match at the SCG, where they had heaps out injured but still chinned us by 4 goals

The Eagles will get themselves up for us on Saturday. We'd better be ready

I'd never ever have Ed Curnow as the sub.

Ed's strength is his ability to out run opponents for endurance. He was awful yesterday but either plays seniors or 2nds. Never sub.
