I am happy that they dropped TDK after last week's effort - we need more from him if he wants to be a considered a bonefide ruckman.

Plowman being dropped is a no-brainer.

Great to see Cincotta get a crack at it. I reckon he will give his all and go some way to offsetting the Saad loss. He won't provide the same drive, but I expect that he will be accountable.

I would have liked to see Kemp come in, however I am sure he will be kept warm in case McGovern doesn't come up.

Go Blues!

Forwards: Corey Durdin - Charlie Curnow - Jesse Motlop

Interchange: Lachie Cowan - Ed Curnow - Josh Honey - Matthew Kennedy

Emergencies: Tom De Koning - Brodie Kemp - Lochie O'Brien - Lachie Plowman

Bit more run which I like. Can't play Pittonet TDK & Jack in same side

Saad Williams & Docherty out all at same time is a massive problem

Need to win contested ball or we are in trouble.

I just want to see Saad Owies Docherty all in the same side

Congrats to Cincotta. Earned it the hard way and has been in form. Very confident he will step up and play well

From that squad, Fisher Ed & Honey should be really fighting for their spots when the injured players start coming back IMO

Cowan might need a rest at some stage

JSOS might go depending on the opposition

Cincotta depending on how he goes over the next couple of weeks

It's far from our best 22. But on that note, Carlton by 22 goals

All things considered , i don't mind that .................... Tommy DK ? has been ordinary but i would let him fight his way out of the form slump . Just my opinion . Just reckon the midfield will click and it will be bombs away ..................... and all the best to Alex Cincotta . He has done it the hard way and been rewarded .

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about.
It's got nothing to do with making wholesale changes.

Plowman got picked because we lost two of our most experienced defenders.

O’Brien got picked because we were short on outside run.

For Dow to be rewarded, Vossy will have to find a spot for yet another slow inside mid. Where would you put him, or the incumbents?

Replace Ed

The last thing we need is another unaccountable midfielder. Ed can tag Sinclair, shut down one of their other mids who get off the hook (LDU, Coniglio). Who else do we have that can do that? Not Dow.
Ed definitely has his limitations but he makes sacrifices for the team that no other player on our list will make. Plus in red time of quarters, he's the only player on the ground running to make an exit option for our defence. Until our midfield get their mojo back, Ed is a definite IMO.

As much as Ed's dinky up and under kicks drive me mad, just love the fact you know he's giving his absolute all and will run every quarter and the game out. He keeps going when others don't/won't. And he'll sacrifice his game and be team-first when others don't/won't. We need these attributes of Ed and Walsh to bleed into the other blokes.

I simply do not rate that team

We can’t afford to have too many injuries

Holes everywhere

Ordinary Half forward line

Very ordinary bench

Again, the game will be decided on whether our best players have great games and get us over the line

If you look at the first 5 games we have been ordinary
Richmond have been crap all year
Geelong were still in party mode when we played them GWS are crap in arguably the worst game of the season so far. North are coming from a long way back and had no key defenders and we won by 4 goals
You can only hide the fact that the list has still enormous deficiencies

The loss of Docherty and Mc Govern last week was crucial
Both are good ball users from defense
Not quick but with the ball in their hands the pill can move forward quickly and effectively from the back
Saad provides the run
But even with these 3 guys in the team the speed in which the ball comes out from defence isn’t quick enough
Weitering Young Plowman Newman aren’t quick and don’t run and carry enough
The better teams have most defenders carrying the pill
Consequently we are easily played against
With 2 out we are in serious trouble
Why not try Dow at half back
Give him license to run
He wouldn’t be the first player to have his career saved by moving to the backline
Look at McGovern

This is why you need to watch the VFL.
Dow lacks a defensive side and defensive run, there is no way he can be a defender.

Saad doesn’t defend either
Ask Ben Keays
But you need players who run and gun out of defence
Good to see Cincotta get a run

So Honey gets a promotion for five possessions in 3.5 quarters of football? At least he's a forward that kicks goals. Oh wait.

I agree, except that is also not how Dow plays.
He's an extractor that follows the ball.
He is still working on his defensive side (I say this as it has gotten marginally better) and his attacking side is also a work in progress.
I want him to succeed but he needs to show more of a work rate to get into the team.
He is better than last year.
Cincotta is a good replacement for Saad, not as good by foot though.

Not confident 'this week but if we win this and Collingwood-Essendon isn't a draw then we'll be second on the ladder.

I know everyone wants to panic about the way we're playing and it's not great but what would that say about every other club?

Nobody's ever won every game in a season and the competition is unbelievably even these days. I'm happy to just bank the wins and hopefully get some players back over the next couple of months and start to gel a bit more as a team.

If you'd offered me second after six rounds I would have sold someone else's left testicle for that.

Round 7 Essendon* has Geelong and Collingwood has the Crows in Adelaide.

Both very losable.

We win both and we could be top of the ladder in nine days.

I think I've suitably jinxed that outcome now.

We start getting the injured players back after the west coast game too.

Really need to bring it on Sunday, both on the field & in the coach's box.
