Missing Walsh Kennedy Acres Owies Williams Boyd Martin Marchbank from Best 25

Will we ever get close to our best side?

Walsh, Kennedy, acres from our best side. The rest are injury prone and have like for like replacements.

Williams and Martin are in our best 22 any day of the week.

So many people say Boyd is in our best 22 interested to know whose spot he takes….

He's not necessarily in our best 22 on form but he's one of the young players the club really rate and would be keen to play even if not 100% deserved based on form. They're blooding Cowan and Hollands. They have an eye on 2024-25 clearly.

That's your opinion.

They are all out because of injury. I dont know what "injury prone' has got to do with them being best 23 or not, forthis year: its only round 3.

Like I posted earlier there's 5 players from our best side, I thought everyone agreed with...a fit Williams and Martin any day of the week, AND, there's an argument for Owies because regardless of fan bias, Voss keeps picking him. Last year when we had Boyd with Williams and Saad together, not only did that release Docherty into the midfield rotations (good thing yeah), we had the equal best attacking backline players in the league. We found something. There was no debate. Now Boyd is injured, he's written off? He will be back. Have any doubts he wont be considered if fit? Watch this space.

Marchbank fit and in form, no good? Not best 22? Well Marchy was selected by Voss as soon as he was available with only half a game in the reserves to get into the groove. Cottrell was in the conversation for the teams Best sub, and before Hollands broke through was considered a better footballer/ wingman/ HF/ HB than LOB.

The point is the abovementioned players when fit and firing may be in better form than those in our selected team this week, or next, and are worthy of the consideration as Best 23, rather than writing them off. Fact is we don't know for sure, because we can't tell the future and form is a moving value.

My Best 23 team at the beginning of the season included Cottrell and Fisher, didn't include Owies, Durdin, Newman, Silvagni, Hollands, but things change. They are all worthy to be considered as Best 23 depending on the opposition, and are quality players.

If it wasn't for injury, I would bet that the "so called" peripheral players of the Best 23, Cottrell, Boyd, Marchbank would be playing today, and not written off because they someone pigeon holes them as "injury prone".

Doesn't mean I'm right about them being worthy Best 23. Doesn't mean I'm wrong. We are debating the worth of the injured list and no doubt they are quality players, that are "arguably" Best 23 or next up, and we all wish they were available because of the value a fit Best 26 would bring to the team. All agree on that?

I really hope the KPFs Harry & Charlie kick straight today.

Bad kicking can bring all the good work upfield undone today.

I'm getting nervous.

Need to bank the 4 points ...first ... and if we are in hot form ... then we work on percentage.

While we have these injuries all I'm interested in is banking the 4 points. This game will be no walk in the park & next week even harder

I reckon they'll go with:

Newman - Weitering - McGovern
Saad - Young - Cowan
Docherty - Cripps - Hollands
Silvagni - C.Curnow - Fisher
Durdin - McKay - Motlop
TDK - Cerra - Hewitt

Pittonet - E. Curnow - O'Brien - Dow

Sub: Honey

I was pretty close...

My only question with the team is really who is the sub? What does the sub 'do'? With O'Brien, we consistenyly brought him on for extra run in the last Q and played him mostly across HF, regardless of who subbed out. Out of Cincotta, Dow, Plowman and Carroll... Who provides 'run'?

Even when fit they're frequently out of form... the reason people consider them best 22 just illustrates how weak our list is.

Maybe we're trying to justify their price tag...

Don't underestimate this mob.
LDU is elite and Cunnington/Goldstein are still a high level midfield combination and Larkey tore us a new one less than 2 years ago. Our mids will have their work cut out without Kennedy and Walsh.

Beat a confused lacking confidence WC on home deck by 5
Beat a misfiring Freo by 1 with the benefit of umpires
Lost to the worst inexperienced list by 19 last week.

We should Beat them easily if we are going to be a finals team

I'm hoping it's Cincotta

I would agree. Especially Martin. Im yet to be convinced on exposed form that he is anywhere near the "great" player some make him to be. Average player at best. Hope he turns it around, but I'm not confident he will be consistently fit enough to be able to do so.

Sure….it’s a hypothetical- they’re never on the park consistently so therefore I rule them out

Carroll and Cincotta not named in VFL lineup on the AFL app.

Late change for Hewitt I’m tipping.
