The improvement this year has been in our ability to slow the game down which we couldn’t do last year. We did well with the hard, forward game early last year until teams shut that down and we didn’t have much else in the kit bag. This year, maybe we do. But the big change needs to be that we can apply ourselves for longer and more often. Last year we would show up quite well mentally against the better teams, but then drop to that 95% or less against some of the more mediocre teams, or when we’d built up a good lead. This year, we need to Frank the wins against good teams, with wins against the more mediocre teams (and ram home a big win if/when the opportunity presents). That is why beating GWS is important. I agree that GWS aren’t a bad side and Adelaide is going to be more challenging than it may at first appear. But we need to beat them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk To say that we need to win the next few matches including this Saturday is ridiculous. You simply look to this week See how GWS play They certainly are playing with more dare and courage Clearly Cameron had done his time there last year Their midfield is still good If anyone assumes that Carlton is better than GWS therefore should win clearly doesn’t get it |

Maybe you’re right. I believe Carlton should be a top 8 team this year and more so top 6. I don’t see GWS as a finals team. If Carlton is the team I believe it should be, given our list & footy department, we should beat GWS (and 2-3 of the following 4 matches). If we can’t do that, then I will clearly have overestimated us. Or, I am a bit early but they will improve to this point throughout the season (as Geelong did last year, and Collingwood). They should get Kelly and Whitfield back this week We should get Hewitt We need to stop Taylor and Haynes marking the ball and bring it to ground. I think Weiters can handle Hogan Ed will chase the bunny all game. Toby is the issue we don't have a match up. I think asking Cowan to go to him is a bit much. Dare I say it but Plowman is a better match up. I think Durdin and Motlop should have a day out. Last time we played them up here Kennedy turned the game in the 3rd quarter and Charlie iced it in the last. Harry was out Zac Williams did his Achilles in the opening quarter Sent from my SM-F926B using Tapatalk |

Why wouldn't Doc be a good match-up for Green? Anyone but Plowman seriously. |

Articulate and well versed in the scripts from Antiquity. Fights a good fight with logic. Good footballer back in the day at Prahran. I bet he's more comfortable these days with the club in good hands, stable and rising. Probably why we don't read posts from him anymore. A bloke you'd want in your corner rather than against you. |

Obviously you do, coz you posted it. Newman is another as long as he stays close to Toby, Doc another, but would rather Doc be freed up and Newman as the lock down. |

Carroll needs games under his belt when he's fit and in form. If Hewett is not right its no change for me. If I was going to make a change I'd keep Fishger as the sub, and like to see Dow as an inside mid and see if he can finally translate his reserves form to the ones. I have not written Dow off. Well I did years ago, but Ive seen enough to change my mind. Carroll is playing an outside role, so if he came in, I'd keep Ed as the inside mid/tagger and Carroll on the outside. I really dont think Carroll is that quick and the pace of the game at AFL is too much, but then again, he needs to get another taste and see where he's at at some stage. |

He’s just woeful defensively. No pressure whatsoever. Slim pickings outside the 23 though. |

Keen to see Cowan v Greene. We don’t play a man-on-man type of defence, but you just know that Toby will go at the young bloke early. Our guy is up to the challenge. |
