It's hard work following this team and sometimes watching them makes me want to kick the dog, so here is a positivity only thread.
Simple premise, just post five overall positives or moments from the game. Negative posts not allowed.

1. Cowan and Ollies not looking overawed in front of ~88,000 people.

2. Silvagni's mark and goal in his 100th game, fitting addition to the Silvagni family legacy in the Navy Blue.

3. C Curnow still managing three goals in a game where it felt like he had zero impact.

4. Dustin Martin getting pinged several times after attempting his typical fend-off (plus another where he got off lucky). Hopefully a sign that Carlton tackles won't be brushed off as easily as in recent seasons.

5. Controversial perhaps, but coming away with a draw when the team was outplayed for the vast majority of the match.

1 - As I mentioned earlier, the mindset of going for the win with 19 seconds on the clock rather than throwing numbers behind the footy and avoiding a loss/taking the draw.

2 - Cerra fast becoming our most important player in our possession chains. His foot skills and decision making were sublime when we allowed him to get into space.

3 - We absorbed a lot of pressure in bursts at times when we were absolutely off our feet - the last 5 minutes of the third quarter especially. Richmond are a really good side, they adapted to our game plan very well, and had the players to put us away. Seemed like there was a 5 goal burst that just never came from them.

4 - Plenty of upside in that team - H and Charlie had quiet nights, Cripps was quiet for 3 quarters, Walsh to come back in. Acres capable of more. 2-3 blokes getting back into it after injury interrupted pre-seasons.

5 - Cowan and Hollands contributed and weren't just there for the ride. Hollands' GPS numbers were amazing. Concerning that Cowan throws his weight around so much more than his senior teammates already.

Biggest one for me was not letting a 3 goal in 5 minute run-on turn into a 6 goal in 10 situation. Learning.

1. Harry's marking and providing option
2. Hewett
3. Holland and Cowan good first up
4 we played shit and still had a draw
5. Ed Curnow's restricting Prestia to 1 disposal in the last quarter

1) With the number of inside 50’s they had the effort of our backline - McGovern first game for some time and Young who was very solid
2) Harry’s effort and contest throughout
3) cerra and hewett in the first
4) glimpses of Cowan and hollands
5) the standard we play to today is far different to 2021 - we are a football side now

Voss's press conference. In my opinion, he's the best communicator we've had as a coach since Parkin.

He seemed a lot more pleased with the performance than most were immediately after the game:

Even if it’s “bluff” he played it well.

1. I guess a real positive is we kept a Team with alot of forward firepower to 8 goals. Yes they missed a few but overall the defense was solid considering the amount of entries.

2. So good to have Hewett back in. A true Finals type footballer.

3. The 2 Newbies. Exciting.

4. Voss's post match interview. It is all about perspective.

5. Harry taking some big grabs up the field.

Regards Cazzesman

If you don’t have time to listen to the whole thing, just listen to what he says from 6:12 to 6:30.

1. George Hewett
2. Lewis Young
3. Curnow not doing much but still kicking 3 second half goals in a low scoring match
4. Richmond threw everything at us but the defence held up well
5. Not having more than 3 goals kicked in a row on us

- No injuries

- 88k crowd. I actually don't fully support the idea of the 2 same teams being a lock for Thurs night, but if numbers is the main objective, you cannot argue with 88k

- Came away with 2 points after a below par preseason, against an opponent I really rate

- TDK did better than I thought he would

- Dusty finally getting done for high fend offs

Debutants held their own and were not overawed

Got smashed on inside 50's and didn't concede a run of 5 goals

Lewis Young improving every game

Charlie, Cripps, Martin, Fish all below par for much of the game - plenty of improvement there

No injuries and a few will be better for the run

Actually another one - that 75m point from Saad on halftime cost Richmond the game. That's funny.

Good thread!

1. We didn't cough up a 4-5 goal run. I was expecting it to happen.
2. We tightened things up, slowed things down and absorbed the pressure better than we have before (see previous comment).
3. Cowan and Hollands look very composed in their first game in front of such a big crowd. You always wonder how the newbies are going to go first up.
4. Hewett was great and it's very clear how much we missed him last season.
5. In the last 20 seconds we went for the attack and didn't try and play defensive. It didn't come off but I'd much rather see us do that than just try and hold the ball in.
5.5 (because it was a draw) It was nice to see Shae Bolton missing some easy shots and getting pinged for flopping around.

1. The debutants looked great and earned respect of footy public. Well done Austin.
2. KPDs Weiters & Young Well done Austin.
3. Hewitt & Cerra did it again in round 1. We’ll done Austin
4. A lot of passengers and we got a draw against a Top 4 team. Upside
5. Dow played an excellent game vs Richmond reserves. Knocking door down sorta stuff

Overall. We will be a Finals contender.

1. Should of won when no one really played their best
2. Defence held up mostly even with mistakes and will get better. Sides will find us hard to score against
3. Ability to play a new style when needed
4. Hollands & Cowan. Tough first game but both showed enough
5. Lots of upside and improvement to come

5a. Walsh will make us so much better as will Pittonet & Durdin

1. Felt for the most part we were outplayed and never really got our game going. So on reflection pretty happy to get away with a draw. Sure beats a loss.

2. Backline as a unit held up very well noting we lost the territory battle materially.

3. Both debutants showed glimpses and weren’t completely out of their depth.

4. Have to believe we have much more upside in method and individual performances of many players.

5. George and Young were impressive.

Docherty's goal was also seriously impressive. Didn't think he had that distance in him, let alone that distance in the 4th quarter.
