Not sure what to think with our team selections this week, I feel we are rehashing 2022 team selections.
Hewett out for injury again and only 1 change to cover the injury, very uninspiring.
I was kind of hoping we'd show a bit more bravado this season by rewarding and dropping players based on game performance and needs a little more.
Maybe Voss and Co. are trying to show trust and loyalty to players by not dropping them or they are experimenting these first two rounds as they have marked them down as losses.
Either way, I can't really say I'm excited to watch the game tonight, I feel like it may be a train wreck about to unfold.
Which sucks as I really hate these flogs and want to bury them.
Flat as.......

I’d be more concerned if there were several changes after a round 1 draw.
If you pick your best 23 in round 1 and reward pre-season performance, I think you owe it to those players to give them more than 1 game.
I have been thinking and I agree, we all complain about players getting dropped just because of one below par game and perhaps they want a bit of consistency as opposed to one good VFL game.

Having said that... Get Pitto in FFS :D

I don't disagree, but you'd have to agree that the Cats are a different team to Bitchmond so you'd expect a few more changes based on team needs at least.
And why bring in a small forward to replace an inside mid?

We didn't have an inside mid slow enough...or maybe we need a bit more speed on the game and that includes against Geelong.

Setterfield says hello.......
If we need speed there is a bloke on our list who can play inside mid role that is quicker than our current inside mids.......

Dow should be playing this week
I agree with BV to a point that because his performance in the senior praccy games was that bad he should play VFL for an extended period
Things is we extended his contract by one year(2023) we have been treading water with this guy for so long and he is only a mid
Nothing else
With Hewett out he simply has to play given his match fitness over Durdin
These sort of selections can have a large impact on moral
To play Durdin over Dow in these scenarios is simply unfair on Dow

Bang on!! On all of it Keogh

Bang x 2!

Why bother extending his contract if we never play him?

x 3
Play the kid and let's see if his performance in the two's translates to seniors.
Chop Martin for Durdin.
Chop Fish for LOB.

We have to play Pitto surely. Geelong are ridiculously strong in the ruck. We can't have TDK try to do it all against 4 Cats ruck options.

Why?? Geelong rucks got their pants pulled down by the Collingwood rucks. Partnered with ex-Saints ruck "Sometimes" Stanley, the monster wingman Blicavs got 5 hitouts. The other two ruckman of your four were Hawkins (4 ho) and Noone (0 ho). Of the nine winners last week (if you include us as a winner) only two teams won the ruck and some of the others got flogged.

I don't know why everyone wants PItto back. Don't you think the team's slow enough? I suppose he could come in for Martin but they may wait until some of our runners are back.

Pitto crashes into opposing ruckman to halve the contest or to advantage. When Pitto plays our contested game works. Pitto suits our system. TDK tries to win the tap every time, and withbthat went our contested possession dominance.

I like. Both rucks in. They compliment each other, plus I’m in the 2 rucks camp and always will be. TDK forward stretches Cats backline already missing Stewart and Henry it will force Blicavs to play back instead of tagging Cripps out of the game like last game.

Yes time to dispel the myth we re-signed Dow.

TBH we should be rapt to sneak in the finals this year, our list still has too many cloggers on there, thankfully most are heading into their final year now.

And if Durdin is fit enough without any game time, surely the big fella is cherry ripe. I watched him last week against the tigers in the reserves and he worked very well.

Maybe we will get lucky and SDK will be a late out.
We could win if that happens.

Pitto (it's a no brainer he should play IMO) and TDK do enough in the ruck to give us enough of the ball in midfield (even despite Hewett's absence) and Carlton's tall forwards get the better of an undermanned Geelong backline.

Would be fun to see TDK play on SDK though, if only for a brief moment.

We aren't going to see Ben vs Harry anytime soon.

Great match to listen to on radio. BOG to come from a select 8 or so players.

A great opportunity for a lot of our players to atone for last years showing.
Charlie and Harry had 3 marks inside 50 between them. Harry was goalless. The captain was blanketed by Blicavs and their sub-grade midfield dominated ours. Atkins is a trier at best but when it comes to talent, he's a long way behind our mids. They almost doubled our centre clearance tally by manning up and being more physical than our mids.

Stanley had the better of TDK in the hit-outs and it was daylight from there.
I'd bring in Pitto and tell him to be ultra physical with Stanley. He's their one mental weak link IMHO. As I said elsewhere, I'd also give Durdin a run in the middle. Get some quick feet and agility around the contest.

I really want to be optimistic about tonight ... but all I see is doom and gloom.

I was happy to hear Hamil say that we are going to move the ball faster.
