2 sets of rules out there tonight. Carlton rules/Sydney rules.
I was hoping Dow may have straightened his head out over the off season but it was the same old problems. His brain wont allow him to kick the ball unless he's under extreme pressure. He'd rather handball to nobody. Finished.
O'Brien's the same as previous years. Wont commit physically.
Love the look of Cowan and Hollands. They'll both be good players.
TDK was embarrassed by a shitbag.
I still believe Young is a liability.

Hollands and Acres should be our starting wingmen.
Even though he struggled to get into the game and gave away some free kicks, I like Motlop's intent. Our ball movement out of defence is still second rate and it was disappointing to see our midfield touched up in the clearances.
I liked Cerra's game though.

How good is Charlie? Very rarely outmarked. Even if he's 1 on 2.
I'm not overly worried about the scoreboard. Sydney had a big breeze in the first and it rained when we had it. 19 scoring shots to 22. Put the Cripps, Walsh, Martin, McKay into that side and we're significantly improved.

I have little faith in Young, desperately need Gov or Marchbank (both) fit.

Yes Bee Vee….

we definitely were on the wrong side of the
decisions…the ball didn’t fall our way so to speak…!

and yeah…they got the jump on us…and the boys
were just a bit flat…they need a crowd…!

kindest regards tommi

I hope this is not the intent or game style we are playing with in round 1. Cant transition the ball out of defensive 50 to save ourselves. Owies is a nothing player. Ed Curnow is a nothing player. Plowman is a nothing player. We play Hollands and Cowan, as they offer more than those 3 easily. Would have liked to see Kemp in the team instead of Plowman. Thought Vossy was not fooled by fraudulent players ie Plowman.

Why no run and carry ? Especially from Saad. Surely we cant make life difficult for us just playing the wings and not through the centre.

How lucky did Collingwood get, with their new coach. They play a simple style of footy.

We just make life hard for ourselves really. Vossy promised we trained to be tough and hard. Did not see any of that in the 2 preseason games. Yes they are only pre season games, but if you are competitive person, you will be completitive no matter what. I saw no system in our game so far.

Hate what will happen round 1 against Richmond and round 2 against Geelong if we dont improve. Obviously we had important players out, so we will see.

I don’t think Stephen O’Reilly will help us now.

It’s was a practise game against a team that was humiliated in last years GF. I expected this from a very good team. They are out to prove a point and played accordingly.

A few positives.
Hollands, Dow, Cowan and Cincotta standing up. Hollands is going to be a 200+ player for us.
Motlop buzzing around, Pittonet and Hewett looking strong.
No injuries!!!
Some negatives.
F50 entries. No McKay yet we still just bomb it. Look so much better when lowering the eyes for the lead up.
I thought our pressure without the ball wasn’t where it needs to be.
Very little run, especially from our backline and not enough clean ball.

I’d be disappointed if we played like that round 1.

Don’t forget it was Umpire #22 aka “The Cheat” - who once again screwed us when it mattered and conveniently knows how to even up the stats when the games all over - and the AFL sacked Michael Pell.

The breeze in the 1st quarter was bugger all to speak of and certainly wasn't a 6 goal breeze
One thing was noticeable was the talk and direction the Swans players give each other.
With the exception of Docherty you saw none of it from Carlton players No one organising. And you could hear everything

Holland has shot past OBRIEN and he can kick the bloody thing.
Saad was unsighted in the first half had a good 2nd half.
JSOS played better in 2nd half and should have kicked at least one more.
Owies did nothing.
TDK is a worry a big worry there is no way he is worth a big contract
Hewett worked into the game.
Acres is ok but his disposal let him down at times
Plowman and Young are liabilities I thought Durdin was far better when he came on.
Still would like to see more of Carroll.
We looked skinny compared to them a lot of chicken legs out there.
Reid was rag dolling all of them.
Can't transition out of defence.
Still give up the middle of the ground
Fisher does not like contact.
I thought Dow worked his butt off
Pitto has to be first choice ruck.

What was a nice boutique ground a few years back is a run down dump now . The scoreboard screen was pixalated and yellow

Pretty terrible and lacklustre performance in my view
First quarter abysmal

A lot of players missing with injury a lot of players went missing lob honey Owies to name a few

Apart from Charlie forward line non existent at least Motlop tried hard

Can’t understand why Carroll doesn’t get more of a go

Rucks pretty ordinary
Goalkicking inept

About 5 good players if you are lucky on the night

If we play like that Richmond will win by 10 goals

Not much star power apart from Charles if Cripps Walsh and H don’t play

Hollands and Cowan good
Acres ok

Yeah, that wasn’t pretty.

On the positives, no injuries (that we know of yet!) and Cowan & Hollands look promising.

Trying to keep perspective….but that was horrible.

Saw tonight how many guys we have that aren’t AFL level, our depth isn’t great.

Did Binns get a run at all? Didn't see him except in the rooms at 1/2 time
