As Parko/Kanga used to say “it’s later than you think”.

Our players need to start being impatient for success because the pages quickly turn…

I’m not expecting a flag this year, but the core group is at an age where no season can be wasted. That group needs to stay healthy and we need a few of the ‘fringe’ players to become ‘regulars’ ASAP.

When did the rebuild start?
2015? 7 years ago.
Only Doc, Ed & Crippa came before that.
It has been a complete rebuild from the ground up.

The class of 2015 are leading this.
It has been a long time for them.

I thought it would be worth revisiting this thread to see how accurate the preseason predictions were.

To me, the biggest positive surprises so far have been (in order):

- Cerra
- Kemp
- Cincotta
- McGovern (mainly for only missing one game through injury! :-o)

There have been plenty of negative surprises this year, so it's probably not worth listing them all....

Who would you say are the biggest positive surprises this year to date? Have I missed anyone?

Yeah, Gov playing 14+ games is a big positive surprise... and Cunners playing any senior footy at all is probably the main one I can think of that you didn't list.

Kemp also a big positive surprise, I must admit at the end of last season I'd put a line through him.

Cerra I wouldn't put on the surprise list, I always rated him really highly. I probably didn't have him as such a runaway B&F leader, but I'm not surprised he's killing it.

I was a little bit uneasy about putting Cunners on the list until he got through a few more games, but yeah, very surprised that he came back at all after such a horrid run with injuries.

I had always rated Cerra as well, but I guess finding his position in such a (perceived) strong midfield group had always been in question. In 2022 I couldn't see who he was going to push out of the that group, could you?

The big surprise for me is just how consistent he has been this year - he has been our most dependable midfielder by far. If Walsh hadn't been injured things may have panned our a bit differently, but Cerra has really stepped it up this year, especially his on-field leadership. Great player!!
