Just hope he doesn't push himself too hard.
Good news though.

Hope its good news and we aren't "Kreuzering" him.

Thankfully, no mention of bike rides down to Colac & back.

Cleary the club wants to address the lack of run and carry which is good but if you just focus on one aspect of a players makeup you can drop the ball

This happened around ten years ago when the club obsessed with obtaining key position players drafted Mitchell, McCarthy and co all spuds which set the club back

In his 7 games Boyd has shown he can run and carry the ball quickly
But in every stat he is average or below average except for % in contested possession
On top of this he has shown that his body isn’t physically reliable
Which is a concern when your age is 24.
So there my reasons as to why a 2 year deal on the list is way overs
But hey
Nothing new about giving guys long contracts who haven’t deserved it

Boyd & O’Brien are both on the rookie list.

I think he deserves a spot on the list.

Once he got over the nerves in his first outing, (if that's all you still remember) he showed incredible dare and speed to link up and run the ball out of defence. He isnt afraid, and doesnt shirk the contest. He goes in harder than most in the 23, and he isn't taking up too much salary. Great value.

I thought he was the find of the year in 2022. A cheap punt who has all the potential to be in our GF team. Not many can kick a spearing 50 metre pass. His disposal can cut up opposition defences.

The great thing about Boyd is he can do the BP position proud and he releases either Docherty or Williams further upfield. Hey I wouldn't mind any of Boyd, Docherty or Williams delivering ball to our forwards.

We don't need to release our backline up the field in 2023. That's how we were getting spanked on turnover before.

We now have Acres and Hollands running both ways we should keep our backline structured.

Because he is an elite kick, his defence has improved significantly and his attitude is very good.
It's a no brainer if you take your pessimists hat off for a change.

Yes , a very handy footballer . And he puts his head over the football . No matter what they tell you , the Dogs were desperate to keep Boyd and where mightily pissed to lose him .

So, you’re conflicted?

Happy he’s got a rookie list spot, but disappointed it’s for the full term?

Just finished watching our loss to the Tigers in the wet, and if I was keogh, I would go back and watch that game and the Freo game before getting injured. There's your answer.

Boyd was one of our best from the start, when we gave them a 6 goal start. His kicking was impressive in the wet. The wet is what separates the skilful players from the average. He is an elite kick. Tough as nails. Really hurts when he tackles.

In the Freo game, apart from one mistake, he was brilliant.

So glad we know we can develop him over the next 2 years. Given that keogh doesnt rate Williams due to the size of his pay packet (not his fault), and length of contract, but also because of his injuries, Boyd is the right replacement, and runs and breaks lines too.

First time I saw him for Blues I thought "Anyone with any semblance of knowledge of our game will see this kid can play"
