These guys are playing too much footy. They need a full time job outside of footy.

These calf injuries and stress fractures are not exclusive to carlton.

I will highlight the players who came to Carlton with injury history that SOS traded for. Take them out and it looks like injuries with other teams.

They’re all carrying minor injuries

It’s a tough game

"Expected to" for Carlton means the opposite.

I don't think people realise that nearly all players are carrying some kind of injury or bruising into games.
They like to blame strength and conditioning staff for their injuries in the toughest game on earth.

AFL players are the biggest strongest fastest in the land. They hit harder and crush harder than any other game in the land.
At least in rugby you know they are coming straight at you and you brace for contact. No such comforts in AFL.
Its a tough game, but some forget that.

Yes, you need to be a tough type to play AFL, and to be able to play carrying some ailment or you miss out. Its amazing when the game gets going how a player's attention is far from the minor ailment. Competitive beats come to the fore and compete. Weakees fall to the side.

Charlie is tough.

Kennedy, Martin & Walsh (+ S.Durdin) are a ‘test’.

Acres should be back next week. Less certain about Owies.

No update on Marchbank, Boyd or Cottrell.

Wonder how much the 5 day break before our next game will impact the decision to play or not to play Walsh, Kennedy or Martin?

Good point so maybe Dow for Acres and Ed runs the wing!

Good to have possibilities.

GO BLUES!

It’s a 6 day turnaround, not exactly unusual. Doubt it would have any bearing on the decision. They’re either fit or they’re not

They're either fit or not  Walsh is a freak. Has been since day 1.

I think the shorter breaks affect the younger players more than the seasoned players: Cowan, Hollands, Motlop, Durdin.

5 day break, followed by a 6 day break ... may have to start to rotate players.

A third of our Best 23 are out injured.

Arguably 8-9 Players missing from Best 22 due to injury.
And that's not including Cuningham. Lets call it a 3rd of the Best 22.

Last year it was our KPD's dropping off by the week.
This year its our midfield group and running players.

Missing vs North Melbourne:

Williams
Boyd
Williams
Kennedy
Acres
Martin
Cottrell
Owies
Marchbank

What a challenge for the boys on a fast track missing all that running power.

I don't think you could find room for all those players in our best 22. And even for the ones that do make it, they might only be a slight improvement over the player they're replacing.

Willams for Cowan
Acres for LOB
Walsh and Kennedy for maybe Hollands and Ed? But then how do you find room for Cottrell?
Owies or Martin for Honey. Who would you drop for the other?
Marchbank or Boyd would have to be for Newman or Gov.. Both a maybe at best

I think there would be 6 changes to our best 22 at most

Missing Williams twice is definitely a challenge we weren’t prepared for…
