Did anyone see Ross Lyon's interview this week?
Apparently Jack went home talking up Anthony Caminiti playing on Weiters in a trial game and SOS latched onto him and dragged him down to Moorabbin.
No surprise

Well, SOS does work for StKilda. Jack might need to be more cautious what he tells him.

Caminiti deserved a spot on a list. We didn’t have one - and if we did, it’d be behind Harry & Charlie.

Kudos to Jack for helping a young bloke get a job.

I didn't know we were so flush for potential quality forwards that we could be happily assign them to other clubs with our blessing.
Maybe Jack could become the goodwill closet player manager for up and coming players.

As for not having a list spot available, that's incorrect as well. Caminiti went to the Saints and we then selected Cincotta.

The job was Cincotta’s long before the paperwork went through.

As I understand Jack pumped up David Cuningham’s tyres when he was drafted and Ben pumped up Finbar O’Dwyers - just saying.

Whilst I can understand BV's view, we witnessed Caminiti and how he performed on Weiters first hand. Presumably our entire MC was there. Yet we didn't follow up on him.
On the flipside, I'd be staggered if another club brought a player on their list based solely on the thoughts of an opposition player (even if he were the son of that club's list manager).
I do not give 2 hoots about the aints and wish them nothing but more and more misery, but if they made the decision based on what Jack said to SOS, you may as well shut that joint down.

Yeah, of course it was.
They only invited Caminiti down to train so goodwill Jack could have a look at him. It all makes total sense.

I hope he doesn't play like him, we may have missed another nugget.

We’ll have to wait and see whether he has that ‘capital C’ factor about him.

One thing he does have is an explosive first couple steps, a crisp set of leading patterns and a good pair of mitts.

Good luck to him.

So very Fev like as a player too.
Just needs that C then and some kegs to the body.
Great.

Good luck to the kid, we may be talking about this for years to come.

SOS is a total cauliflower. Evident in the fact that all of his teammates hate him. How do I know? Heard it straight from his highly decorated (and equally liked) teammate. It has nothing to do with the BS around the salary cap and all to do with him as a person.

What would keogh have offered?

He's contracted. You don't have to offer anything.
Wait a 4-6 weeks to see how he performs in his second year. Obviously I wasn't as impressed as you were last year. His marking is good but his intensity is poor at times and he's jittery with the ball.
If he performs well early in the season, offer him an extra 2 years but I don't understand the rush. :?

Jittery sure
Scares the shit out of me after taking a mark and b
Not going back on his mark
Doesn’t make Jones like turnovers and most games 100% efficiency. Can’t ask for more than that.

A lot of my footy mates from other teams rate him. Ie gets the job done.

Young was in the contest against Lynch, and then took himself out of the contest, and protected Lynch…

Which would have been ok if Lynch was a teammate…

Might be why Weitering looked exasperated, that’s not how team based defence works….

Young tends to forget to compete in contests too regularly…

It’s why he was a backup to a backup at the Dogs…

Weitering might have also looked exasperated because he was blocked from competing properly by Taranto….

Spot on London . Wouldn't blame Young or Weitering . I accept you get good calls and bad calls . That was a non-call by the Ump .

Former Champion Data guru & North Melbourne list boss Glenn Luff is starting in a part time recruiting role at Carlton this week.

Not sure if this is good or bad - didn't he get the arse from North

I think that's a pretty decent reflection of how tight the cap is when we're hiring guys with a view to Moneyball pickups.

Not ideal that I think he went 0/100 at them with Norf.

How old was he at the dogs when he played defence.
I think his foiirst game at 19yo he beat Charlie Curnow.
I know what you're talking about, and agree to an extent, but Weiters loses as many contests as Young imo. It happens to every KPD.

Early days but we need another trade draft period like last year.

An Acres cheap and some great draft picks along with a Cincotta mature type

It’s not that he lost the contest, everyone loses contest, it’s that he didn’t even compete, which he does way too often.

He did the same thing against the Pies (Cameron, 3rd qtr) in round 23 last year, where he was in a perfect position to provide a contest, and at the last second pulled out…. Darcy Cameron took the uncontested mark and kicked a point.

Even though, a tall defender was an area of need for the Dogs, I think he only played 10 games in 5 years.

Hopefully, these brain fades cease, because his intercept marking has been good.

Both instances they were Weiterings opponent. Maybe the synergy isnt quite there yet. We dont really know what they were thinking.

I think his intercept marking has been more than good, he has been outstanding.

No one knows what was going on at the Dogs. Beveridge had the tall players for the backline but chose a smaller quicker backline to suit their game plan? Who knows? 20-21yo Yound wasnt the only tall to be on the outer, and at 20-21yo, he's only developing his game, and maybe he wasnt ready.

He's the same person at Carlton, but a better footballer. That to me, if I'm correct, he is developing and there's plenty of upside.

I'd prefer if we started targeting some more mature talent to top up and start the push, Acres types are fine, Mitchell ones are better.
Not a fan of the forever rebuild, it's time to start rounding out the list with ready to go players that will make a significant impact next season not in 5.

Ridiculous. Can’t we wait to see how their bodies hold up to a full season first? It’s the Philp situation all over again.

Two weeks on.

Would the price/terms be the same?

I agree, if we can afford it, with TDK to fit under the salary cap too.

Agree now is the time to trade our picks and bring in the pieces.

We need a Brian Lake type a-la Hawks in 2013

We need a Darren Jolly type a-la C**wood 2010

And we need a Tom Papley type.
