Will be cheap, we have spots on the list, he has experience and the upside if we get his body right is high. He can kick goals, and provides competition amongst the smalls.

Moderate to low risk, high potential reward.

We need to think outside the box as we don't have the cap space and draft capital in this very moment to land bigger fish.

Couldn't have put it better myself Trav . Small medium forward position is the glaring weakness in our side . Orazio averages a goal and a half a game . Our time is now and our list management team aint hangin " around wishin " and hope " for a young one to come on . If Durds and Motts want it they are gonna have to fight tooth and nail to earn it ...................... signing Orazio shows just how switched on Curly Jnr and Lloyd are .

I agree with all of this, except the highlighted part.
I'll reserve my judgement until we draft in some more speed and skill in the midfield.

Well Sidey , i reckon with Voss's time at Port i reckon he will be all over this as much as Curly and Lloyd . Extremely astute recruiting . Despite the injury concerns i have a gut feeling this is going to work out . Speed ? i don't get this obsession with speed . Transmission the ball well and you look like lightening . Besides , Orazio is very quick so his addition will help in that regard . And Binns glides through heavy traffic very nicely .

I like it. His injury history is a concern but he's elite when he's on the park. We looked good this year when we squeezed up the ground and got goals running back into space. We just lacked someone with elite foot speed to capitalise. He has the skill set to do it.
It gives us flexibility and unpredictability for the opposition.
It would be disappointing for Ronke that he was overlooked.

We need speed around the ball so we don't have to rely on contested football every transition from D50.
Plus it helps with player durability.
And our transition breaks down around and before the F50 because we have taken so long to get the ball there and then it's all clogged up inside F50 reducing our options to hit targets.
I agree good ball use helps with speed, but we have 1 mid/wing we can rely on to hit a target going forward, Walsh.
Not sure on Orazio's speed, but I like that we signed him as already stated.
Binns doesn't regularly hit targets or look like he has burst speed either, he is super agile which helps I guess.

Either way, with the addition of E Hollands and Orazio we have more options up forwards which means we could experiment more with players in the middle. BV might finally get to see C Durdin have a run in the guts.

I would have preferred his spot went to a young guy. But I hope he does well & proves me wrong.

I can see him generating a lot of speed using his 60 year old hamstrings. :screwy:

IF he can get on the park (and that's a big IF) then will he still have the leg speed that made him a dangerous forward a few years ago? What is the defensive side of his game like? I'm sure Port had a good reason to delist him.
Anyway I hope he does well for us.

His defensive side and tackling is quite good actually . Its the injury side of things that seen him fall out of favour . Apparently done a medical so our guys must feel they can get him right .

He's an opportunist small fwd more than a defensive one

We need exactly that; somebody with the hyena mindset, always ready to feast on crumbs and kick a goal

He's got more upside than LOB and Honey combined

Probably costing us about 500k over 2 seasons

I'm confident that Russell, Voss and Austin discussed his injuries and feel they can get him right

Effectively costs us nothing

I don't knoiw if he has more upside being 28yo and perennially injured, but I trust Russell has had a good look and Ozario will be great for us for at least a year, if not two.

I like the message the acquisition sends to the current group of small forwards, and to the spectators who don't like our small forwards criticised, despuite their obvious shortfalls.

I was critical of Fisher during the year before he was dropped, and some of his fans refused to see his weaknesses, in particular strength.

I still have a problem with speed (or lack of) necessary for a small forward to have to get out of situations and apply their x factor.

of the 3 small forwards left following the trade of Fisher, I think Durdin is the quickest and speed is still an issue for Motlop and Owies. I know the strengths they bring to the table, namely tackling, and a goal here and there, but when they try and take on the tackler, they don't have the wheels to speed away (but they think they have).

Bryce Gibbs said today on SEN

Quote:
“It's probably their small forwards that I'm a little bit worried about.

“Owies, Durdin, Motlop, those sort of three. Who out of those three can stand up and become an All-Australian type small forward? A Charlie Cameron type in that forward line?

“I'm just a bit worried about his pace, to be honest, Motlop’s pace.

“All three of those guys have had opportunities over the last 12, 18 months and not really one of them have grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and said, ‘I'm the premier small forward in this forward line’.

“I think those three need to have a big pre-season and one of them needs to really step up.”

I agree with Bryce but can't see where the pace will come with Motlop and Owies if they are to be elusive and dangerous small forwards in Finals.
