If I was associated with Josh Honey, I’d be pushing for him to go to the backline..
he’s now 3-4th behind Motlop, Durdin, Fisher and perhaps Owies. Martin is also ahead of him although he plays taller and is injury prone..
I think honey has all the attributes to play half back
Re Honey at HB, so do I.
Has close to the best closing down speed at Carlton.
He's strong and hits hard.
And quick enough to create the overlap.
I look at the times he runs to the right place, rather than the stat.
He creates an option, an opportunity.
He got ignored a lot last year, and I'm sure the coaches told him so.
That was at HF.
He was in the match sim last week, so his up and at it.
I'd like to see him in defence.
Great engine, strong, quick and kicks it a long way.
Wasted as a HF and not a role we need filling
If Honey had a great engine, we wouldn’t have been so desperate to add that trait to the list this offseason.
I think he is where he is, because that’s the only place he’s going to make it. He’s a fast, strong, high impact type, but he’s limited.
Accepting life in the pigeon hole and making the commitment to own that space is what made us so good last year. It might yet prove the making of guys like Dow, O’Brien and de Koning. Fisher took his medicine, Cottrell too. Fogarty knows his place as well.
We shouldn’t expect anything different from Honey.
There's all types of engines.
He has running pedigree running through his veins. Speed is the assett he has over most others and that's something youve got or you havent.
Closing down speed would be handy in the backline. Williams and Saad have it. Now there's only Saady left.
I don't know about his stamina.
But I know that can be built, and for all we know, there may be a plan to build every player's stamina. That is standard.
That's enough reason not to pigeon hole him.
Potential everywhere, and that's all it is till one breaks through and makes his potential a reality.
Training standards have increased in intensity since Voss arrived: a new dawn?
Honey turns 22yo this year. Kennedy had his breakthrough year when he turned 25yo.
I'm not saying Honey will breakthrough this year, or even remains on the list beyond this year, but I'm not putting a line through anyone's name till season ends.
Not sure what you mean by the medicine Cottrell took?
