I bet it’s Around 300-350K.

He might be worth more and cost us more in 6 weeks time when the season gets going and his manager starts receiving calls from other clubs.

For all we know he maybe after some security to buy a new house or something

Classic case of a late bloomer who could be lost to the AFL because he is only a SANFL player
IMO could hold down a key defensive post at any AFL club

And we don’t know what competitive forces prompt us to sign him now.

If we step away from length of contract, there is no doubt every reason he should be on our list

Exactly

What would keogh have offered?

He's contracted. You don't have to offer anything.
Wait a 4-6 weeks to see how he performs in his second year. Obviously I wasn't as impressed as you were last year. His marking is good but his intensity is poor at times and he's jittery with the ball.
If he performs well early in the season, offer him an extra 2 years but I don't understand the rush. :?

Jittery sure
Scares the shit out of me after taking a mark and b
Not going back on his mark
Doesn’t make Jones like turnovers and most games 100% efficiency. Can’t ask for more than that.

A lot of my footy mates from other teams rate him. Ie gets the job done.

Ok…

that’s pretty good i guess…!

i don’t panic as much as others…I’ve noticed he
really tries to put it on someone’s chest…get the feeling
he doesn’t like turning it over…!

but 300-350 isn’t that bad…?

As BV has said he lacks intensity and his decision making is poor at times
To offer him a 3 year contract extension before the season starts makes no sense
But there is a history of this sort of practice at Carlton over the last quarter of a century
It simply doesn’t make any sense
He would need to improve significantly to be on our list for the next 4 years
For some reason there is a history of this club overrating players and offering long contracts
And in some instances some players who showed something then got the chop
Maybe I am just a shit judge of a footballer
Holman Tuohy there is two
Cuningham didn’t deserve a 3 year deal based on his output previously
When he has been fit he hasn’t delivered enough
As I have said repeatedly our depth is questionable
Keeping guys like Cuningham Dow O’Brien Plowman on your list for so long is frankly poor list management

Decision making isn’t poor with Young. He plays safe. Maybe too safe.

Doesn’t make quick decisions but sizes up opportunities first and has great efficiency with his disposal.

I don’t mind Boydybfrom Norwood to replace Plowman. I’m guessing Marchy and Gov list spots are vulnerable TBH. With them on our list we need more depth with out talls in the backline.

Ridiculous. Can’t we wait to see how their bodies hold up to a full season first? It’s the Philp situation all over again.

Might take four years to answer that question.

I don’t think we’re allowed to pay them more than the rookie deal. If they’ve got the aptitude and attitude, and they’re content to take a minor bump ($200-250k) for another two, why wait?

Our development team has been shite in the past, but you’ve got to back the considerable investment in. If the hallmark of this new era is that kids who develop between the ears are locked away long enough to see their bodies develop, then it can only be a good thing.

You can’t extend deals based solely on aptitude and attitude - results matter too. Best of luck to Hollands & Cowan, but they were locked in for the next 18 months - there was no need to extend their contracts now. In fact, it takes away a short term performance incentive.

I would have ‘risked’ them surpassing expectations and squeezing more dollars out of us next year instead of committing to them for four years before the real stuff starts in their first season. Opinions on players can change very quickly once the grind of a season kicks in…

I wonder if it will be a syndesmosis injury or a stress fracture they develop now?
:yikes: :donk:

We've seen his best and it was quite good, especially when Weiters went down
Could be moved forward if something happens mid-game
I believe the coaches think he's coachable and is nowhere near his ceiling
He knows our structures
Confidence and a feeling of belonging will translate to more consistent output
He would not have asked for much coin
I'm ok with the deal

If Carlton pays 8-900k to 6 players Harry Charlie Cripps Weitering Williams Walsh
, then 650-800k to 6 others….

Hello TDK.

We need to lock in a few low salaries. Quite a few
That’s the game we are in.
If we can commit quality players who could overtake best 22 we do it.

If you look at Swans VFL team, they’re all developing players coz Franklin, Heeney……you know.

Austin isn’t bad at his caper.
I bet Holland and Cowan come good.

I trust in Austin and Co. In the early stage of a young players career surely aptitude is everything. They were recruited because of skills they showed in underage footy and now as new recruits they have shown that they are willing to apply themselves and have a willingness to learn. Why not extend the contract for little $. Shrewd move to my thinking. Also provides for longer term planning.

What are the chances SOS and the Blues are aligned in TDLK going to St.K?
Maybe SOS knows TDK is overrated and Carlton get handsomely rewarded.
SOS is a shrewd operator, just how shrewd is the question.

I think it's a huge chance that SOS, who has spent the last few years shitcanning the club in the media about the treatment he received, is definitely working as a double agent at a rival club to ensure we get a slightly better deal for TDK than we would expect on the market.

Real 4D chess from the club.

Did anyone see Ross Lyon's interview this week?
Apparently Jack went home talking up Anthony Caminiti playing on Weiters in a trial game and SOS latched onto him and dragged him down to Moorabbin.
No surprise

Didn't think so.

Good to see some views without blue coloured glasses on. Refreshing really.

Well, SOS does work for StKilda. Jack might need to be more cautious what he tells him.

Caminiti deserved a spot on a list. We didn’t have one - and if we did, it’d be behind Harry & Charlie.

Kudos to Jack for helping a young bloke get a job.

We’ll have to wait and see whether he has that ‘capital C’ factor about him.

One thing he does have is an explosive first couple steps, a crisp set of leading patterns and a good pair of mitts.

Good luck to him.

I didn't know we were so flush for potential quality forwards that we could be happily assign them to other clubs with our blessing.
Maybe Jack could become the goodwill closet player manager for up and coming players.

As for not having a list spot available, that's incorrect as well. Caminiti went to the Saints and we then selected Cincotta.
