If Boyd can stand up (I believe he will) and become another running defender it helps us a lot. Releases Docherty into middle/wing which he showed so much late in year and added real point of difference.

Boyd, Saad, Williams, even McGovern still gives us a lot of drive out of defence

I think Young developed quickly during the first half of the season and from what I can remember was taking a lot of single grab contested marks.
I feel that he became a little more hesitant during the second half of the season. I suspect this came when Weitering was out and also possibly as Voss tried to add more layers to his game given he probably progressed faster/earlier than expected.
I clearly remember thinking pretty early that he had gone past Oscar.
I will be v interested to see whether Voss puts Docherty in the middle as first option, with Williams taking his spot in defence or whether Doc remains mostly as a backman. Not sure whether he has the durability as a full time mid but if he does, that gives us a big lift.

My side for 2023 would be:

B: McGovern, Weitering, Docherty
HB: Williams, Young, Saad
C: Walsh, Cerra, Acres
HF: Silvagni, Curnow, Fisher
F: Durdin, McKay, Motlop
Foll: De Koning, Cripps, Hewett
I/C: Martin, Kennedy, Newman, Marchbank, O'Brien (assuming the AFL will go with 5 interchange)

Emerg: Kemp, Pittonet, Cottrell, Boyd

I don't think Owies will play much of a role in 2023 unless we have injuries to Durdin or Motlop.
We better be spot on with strength and conditioning in 2023.

I would love to see Hollands in Round 1. He looks a ripper.

I'd like to think so, but is he really ready....like Sam Walsh ready?

If so...Bonus: didnt expect it.

B: Docherty Weitering McGovern
HB: Saad Young Williams
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Martin Curnow Silvagni
F: Motlop McKay Durdin

R: TDK Walsh Cerra

I: Hewett Kennedy Marchbank Fisher
S: Cowan

I am not totally convinced about Durdin. I would be temped to play Fisher there instead.

The best currently for 2023. The 2022 draftees have no exposesd form so have been left out.

B: Boyd Weitering McGovern

HB: Saad Young Docherty

C: Cerra Cripps Acres

HF: Kennedy Curnow Fisher

F: Motlop McKay Durdin

R: Pittonet Walsh Hewett

INT: DeKoning Cottrell Marchbank Kemp Williams

Yes, I know no Sivagni or Martin.

Both would no doubt get a spot as we never have an injury free list. JSOS I feel badly about as he has been abused by the club on field.

What is showing up is a lack of speed which hopefully has been addressed in this year's draft.

Fish will be playing, if fit and IMO Cerra won’t start on the bench.

And the coaches have said that Doc wont be playing on ball.

Why do so many have Walsh on the wing? Surely on the ball is the only place for such a valuable player.

Martin or maybe JSOS could be the tactical subs, come on when the initial heat and speed is out of the game.

I too worry about the speed of the side collectively

The 7th defender/wing spot is up for grabs between Boyd, Cottrell & LOB - but there’s an opportunity for Hollands, Cowan or Binns to jump in if they are ready.

Pittonet, TDK & SOJ are fighting for two positions. I doubt we’ll play all three.

I don't. Speed is about run and also ball use.

Williams and Saad off HB is leg speed. Williams looks as fit as I have ever seen him. Boyd is also handy but his kicking is long and elite. McGovern & Weitering are alos good ball users so from defence we should be able create attacking opportunites. Then there is Docherty who can run and use it well and if Cowan steps up he runs and kicks it a mile.

In the middle we have the Bulls in Cripps Kennedy & Hewett. The key will be to add run on the outside. Walsh & Cerra are solid ball users but it will be names like O'Brien Cottrell Hollands Binns Cunningham Fisher Philp etc that we need a couple to step up.

Up forward we have McKay Curnow TDK/Silvagni but we surround them with Martin Motlop Owies Durdin Fisher Honey who are all quick.

To me that's not a slow side. Certainly not slower than Geelong who are the bench mark
