my favorite kick of the day was LOB to motlop in goal Sq ,surround by coll talls . Seriously until we train for TEAM DEFENCE ( hard running ) back will we not improve, how did ginnvan and jamie v saad and all that space ,how many years have we watched sides stroll into easy goals. think we need to look at our fitness and defence coach.

especially when that’s the only way collingwood tend to score. slingshot diagonal out of defence then straight towards goal as the cross the half way line of centre circle. like how could you not be drilled on that with the game on the line?!

Even WCE could be dangerous. This year is a complete aberration for them.

Who's to say they won't bounce right back and challenge for or make the 8?

Josh Kennedy might have something to say about that!

How did we lose???!!!

footy gods! how did doggies go from 18 points behind at 3/4 time to win by almost the exact minimum amount required to just tick last us on percentage.

I just checked the time line because I was listening to that game and was sure it didn't pan out that way.

Dogs led by 3pts at h/t, Hawks kicked the first goal of the 3q and had their last lead of the game at the 11m mark. Dogs led by 10pts at 3qt, then Moore goaled after 20 seconds to give us hope. Dogs replied at 6m,then Moore missed what iirc was a pretty easy set shot at 11m that would have reduced the lead to 4pts; after that it was one-way traffic.

So, a bit of a bummer, but not the nightmare you described :)

I was there. Thank you everyone for doing my venting for me.

I've sat through some frustrating close losses over the years but that had to be the most depressing, knowing what was at stake and how much control we had over so many aspects of the game and still blowing it, with some really ridiculous brain fades, against an arch enemy who really shouldn't have got out of jail this time.

But it feels like something decent is coming together. It seems like a few educated tweaks, as well as a positive and more confident mindset on the part of the playing group, can get us near the top of the table fairly soon. I'll cling to that, and hope this result hurts the group enough to seriously make amends.

Go Blues.

Two weeks in a row we had the game won and blew it with brain dead decision making. If Walsh had played we we would have won, but regardless of that we had more of the ball and blew it through stupid decision making in the last quarter. Deserved what we got sadly. Voss needs to teach them how to close a game down, if he knows how to, which I seriously doubt. Most other teams know how to do it but we don't and Voss doesn't. After coaching at Brisbane for 5 years and assistant coaching at the Power for ? years it looks like he has learnt nothing. Have not seen any stats but I get the impression that we are close to elite with conceding goals in the last minutes of a quarter, over many years including the pre and current Voss era.

Go back and have a look at the games we won earlier in the season. Got out to big leads and held on at the end, The opposition came at us and we closed the game down and held on to small leads. Several times for extended periods.
Totally unfounded and unfair criticism of Voss and the coaches IMHO.

With Collingwood now eliminated I feel I can now move on from this horrendous loss.
I doubt we would have beaten the Lions at the Gabba, especially with our injuries, and the Pies have finally got what they deserved.
Bring on 2023 I say.

Dare I say we played a better last quarter against the filth than Sydney did but we lost.

Yep 20-11 inside 50's in our favour.
Same number of scoring shots (6 each).
What a terrible loss it was.

They didn't have McCreery spawning shots from 55m on the boundary line yesterday, and the Papley mark (from which he goaled) would have been given as in-the-back ifbit was us in Melbourne, that's the key difference.

We did.

Its all behind us now, except I hope for the learnings, and hope the repair work (adding layers to our game) never allow that to happen again.

I want to be feasting on black n white feathers next year.
