I reckon he won't get booed. We will soon find out.
Go Crippa!

flower the melts if he gets BOG for the next two weeks and ends up with the Brownlow on the back of his appeal success last night.
Ohh the outrage will be delicious.

Won't get booed this week as Melbourne supporters have a hard time knowing who their own players are let alone opposition players.
Fully expect filth fans to boo him next week though.

Has there ever been an instance where a player has spent the week preparing for his appeal rather than the game ahead, and proceeded to have a decent game?

Williams, Hamill, Dunkley, Hall all had stinkers

Cripps could get 40+ possessions in these next two games and you know he won’t poll another vote.

our home game ... that will keep a fair few of them away ...

but bring it on, i dont think crippa is one to shirk an issue and hopefully with thrive under the "conditions"

hopefully this is the start of a 6 game winning streak !!!

Why would the umpires hate him?
The tribunal decision to let him off justified the umpires decision on the day not to report him.

This is the bit I’ve been struggling to understand.

The narrative that the umpires paid him nothing on the weekend because he didn’t get rubbed out makes no sense.

They didn’t report him on the day so him getting off justifies their position.

Too much paranoia around here sometimes.

I’ve never seen the handball over the head paid as throw for a very very very long time.

The afl changed the high tackle interpretation and ginnivan almost has his head taken off the next week. Play on.

Ahh chee still out with concussion and there is a massive flap that cripps not missing weeks.

The incident didn't even warrant a free kick so you can imagine the frenzy if cripps received any soft free kicks.

There would have been a short conversation somewhere for embarrassment management.

We don't know.

For all we know the umps may not have had a good enough view.

They can't see everything.

Personally I think Cripps intended to KO the guy but I am glad he got off.

But that is just one person's view.

He has moved up in betting after yesterday's effort

Seems to be around 3rd or 4th in betting

Sportsbet
Neale 3.00
Oliver 4.50
Brayshaw 5.50
Cripps 5.50

TAB
Neale 3.00
Oliver 4.00
Cripps 6.00
Brayshaw 6.00

If you go through the various games it does look like he might poll around mid 20s (25-27) and recent history suggests winners tend to get around 30 or over so he might just miss out (bit like Carlton!). In 7 of the last 8 years the winner has polled 30+. The one year the winner polled less than 30 was Tom Mitchell 28 in 2018.

The last time anyone won with less than 27 votes was 2014 Priddis (26). Interestingly in the 4 years between 2012 to 2014 the winners polled just 26,26,28 and 26 votes, around where I think Cripps might finish this year.
I wonder why there has been this recent phenomenon of players polling 30+.

Cripps will likely need to get a few surprise votes here and there, and maximises his 3 vote opportunities.

What's really interesting is, from a quick look most betting houses don't think anyone is going to poll well over 30. In fact 28-30 seems to be the mark for this year's winner. So maybe there is hope for Cripps. If he can pinch a few surprise votes then he might be in with a chance.

Here are the matches the AFL website think he will get 2 votes ...

R3 vs Hawks
Cripps and Doc both had 138 AFL Fantasy points which was the highest for the match.
So every chance he might get the 3. But Doc and Jiath clear standouts in coaches votes, so Cripps might only get 1?

R6 vs Freo
We lost this game but Cripps 32 touches and a goal and was no.1 in AFL Fantasy points
We lost by 30 odd though so hard to see him getting the 3 votes
Cripps got 10 in coaches votes though !

R19 vs GWS
AFL Fantasy points ...
- Taranto 123
- Cripps 121
- Saad 116
- Doc 109
Cripps had the most touches (34) and a goal
So he could very well get the 3 votes there
Cripps equal 2nd in coaches votes

Here are the matches where the AFL website don't think he will poll any votes ...

R14 vs Richmond
Doc 129, Walsh 109, and Cripps 106 (34 touches, equal game high) were the 3 highest AFL Fantasy points
But we lost that game (by 15pts)
He can maybe scrounge 1 vote
Didn't get a vote in coaches votes, so might struggle tbh

R16 vs St K
We lost this by 15 pts also
Cripps has 31 but a long way off in terms of efficiency
Be lucky to get a vote
Only got 1 coaches vote

R22 vs Melb
Top performers...
- Brayshaw 123 (38)
- Doc 123 (28)
- Cripps 118 (26)
- Gawn 115
- Oliver 109 (29)
Slim chance to get 1 vote

Obviously there are matches where he is expected to poll 3 but might poll 2 but I reckon there are only 2 games where this might happen...

R8 vs Adel
Curnow got 10 coaches votes and kicked 6 goals
Cripps got 8 coaches votes

R20 vs Adel
Cripps only got 4 coaches votes
But he had 41 touches
Arguably the least amazing 41 touches though
We lost by 29

Stranger things have happened but I think Cripps will fall short unfortunately

So good.

But so bloody frustrating from a team POV.

We have the Brownlow and Coleman medalists and we can't make the 8?!

Hopefully after yesterday the footy gods are starting to turn for us now...
