I haven't seen the game so my comments are just based on what I have read.

I think we have come along way in our performance levels in 2022 and we have shown we have some talented players in the group. The biggest hurdle to overcome now is obviously mental toughness and resilience.

Michael Voss, Aaron Hamill, Tim Clarke, Ashley Hansen and Luke Power never lacked for mental toughness and they will weed out those ones that don't have it or can't find it.

Here are some simple stats that show where our improvement have come from under these coaches in just 19 games.....

2021 after Rd 19 7 wins - 1457 pts for - 1586 pts against - 91.87%
2022 after Rd 19 12 wins - 1628 pts for - 1446 pts against - 112.59%

And that improvement has come on the back to one of the worst injury lists in the AFL.

Vossy and Co have only just begun to stamp his mark on this club.

100% spot on

This is the first season in a long time I have seen a team still in the hunt with only 3 games to go - normally I'm looking at draft picks at this point in the season. Was it a bad loss - shit yeah, so what. Have we improved? Yes. Is it easy to spit the dummy and start pointing fingers before the sun even rises? Obviously. Will Voss take us to the flag? Who the @#$%&! knows? But we are better, and I expect better again next year and then the year after. I want us to get better and to grow the expectations so that we can take shit losses and not want to throw the baby, the bathwater, the bath, the bathroom and the house out every time we lose a game.

I hope the players don't have the same mentality as a lot of fans on here.

Fancy giving up at 12-7 FFS.

If anything, Saturday showed where the players' mentality was.
Piss poor.

Yes, correct …piss poor on the day…..can’t apply that to our season to date

It's not over yet. Far from it. Yes we were bad but give them a chance to respond in the next 3 games.

They’re cooked. Mentally and physically.

Brilliant - I was with you after the game.

Woke up yesterday and appreciated my own projection “I was cooked mentally and physically”

The most important person at an AFL club is your List Manager
Not the senior coach
Chris Scott is a very good ciach but Stephen Wells is a super List Manager

Geelong are harder at the contest and tougher this year when the opposition have the pill
Tom Atkins Close rookie picks
DeKoning pick 19
Holmes pick 20
These 4 players have been pivotal in Geelong being better in 2022.
Stengle has been another

We are about 4 or 5 players short of being a top 4 team
There is still too much deadwood on the list
Austin’s recruiting will be pivotal in how we go in the next few years as it always is
We have the top end talent
Not the bottom end
I do like the look of Carroll and Kemp should be playing instead of Plowman

Voss has done really well
And we may go backwards somewhat in 2023
Ironically you can still see progression when this happens
Have a look at Melbourne before 2021
Richmond 2016
Above all else Voss must be given his 3 years

Problem with SOS and other List Managers is that they didn't necessarily listen/ follow up the evidence the recruiters and talent spotters supplied.
SOS went for Ben Silvagni's mate O'Dwyer because he saw him play at Xavier. Was there better choices around that pick? I bet there were.
With a netwrok around the country, a List Manger shouldnt have such a huge failure rate.

Hopefully Austin can patch things up.
I love the selections of Boyd and trade for Young with latter picks.

It is me.
I’m happy where we are at
And I reckon we can beat The Lions and book a finals spot this weekend
Dow should come in for Kennedy
Kemp for Plowman

OK in the VFL, is nowhere near AFL quality we expected SOS to be selecting with a late pick. Point is SOS didnt seem to GAF about late picks.

Voss and the new coaching team have certainly shown us that under Teague the system of play and defence was unbalanced. one year they held up defensively and didn’t score. the next year they went for shootouts and mostly got out scored and defence went to pieces.

Voss at least gets that need for balance and contested ball in every aspect of the game, on the ball, in the air and around the packs. he’s still working it out. fact we can win with 13 players out shows things have improved. but we can blame our bad losses (Adelaide, Saints, GWS earlier in season, Geelong, collingwood) on injuries alone. if we can win with 13 out we can win wi 5 out against middle and top
teams, if they bring it on the day. it’s all above the neck and in the habits acquired during training.

We can blame the Collingwood loss on injuries I reckon, but I agree with you in general.

Yeah Voss has done great lol
Can someone tell me what the game plan is? What unique brand of football are we playing?
Oh and the effort is there isn't it? Especially over the past 2 months.
Any idiot could have improved on what Teague did for us.
Our game style and effort have gotten progressively worse since mid season.
Didn't Voss say we would be playing our best football late in the year? Hmm looks like we are playing our worst football.
Right now we are playing bottom of ladder rubbish.
But I'm the one who has no idea lol
