"Plowman not sure how he gets a game"... does Kane post on here

Harsh but fair criticism of our tackling, and not just last nights game...

Still flat as a tack this morning. Struggling to comprehend how we could be so, so poor with so much at stake.

We can mitigate all we like but the reality is we’ve been patchy since the bye.

Shitload of injuries, having to plug holes long term, reintegrating players back from long layoffs and no doubt players probably playing ‘sore’. Fully acknowledged and accepted. No excuse though for the lack of effort, intensity and pressure. And for playing so slow ALL game.

Hoping like hell we can respond. Honestly though hard to shake the feeling our season will now derail.

Agreed. Had the opportunity to lock in finals against a team we beat by 9-10 goals earlier in the year and didn’t fire a shot from top player to bottom player.
Hard to find many winners on the night beyond Cripps.
Our leaders and star players largely let us down on the night beyond Cripps. Walsh tried his arse off but just didn’t have the impact we know he can. Weitering pretty average. Saad lost the Keays match up. Doc got the ball but turned it over consistently. Harry was a non factor and his banana from 15 metres out deflated the team. Charlie wasn’t sighted after quarter time which was probably more a function of only getting 47 inside 50s.
Our bottom 6-8 also didn’t fire - Setterfield, Plowman, LOB etc
Really disappointing night topped off by 3 injuries too

I hope the AFL Commission pounces on the scum at the ground.
According to Twitter, she was reported to security who just told her to stop it and left it at that!

After having a good sleep and avoiding TC and all media since the game I think the problem is that when pressure is applied we don’t have a bottom six who can take it, inevitably our prime movers will be covered at some stage, it’s who steps up to fill the gap that is important. We need a more even spread of responsibility.

The AFL is currently investigating alleged comments made by a spectator at AO last night.
Football is a place of inclusion and belonging and there is no place for racist behaviour in our game.
Nobody in our game or in the community deserves to be discriminated and vilified against due to their faith or race and there is simply no excuse for it.

need to add pace and it starts from defence apart from saad there is no one that runs ,spread with ball . our game plan all year is so predictable long bomb from defence or into f50. Voss and co have a lot of work to do and Nick Austin better recruit quick strong bodies like i said weeks a go.

Walsh won the hardest possessions on the night imo.
Then he tried to motor through tackles.
He won it where angels feared to tread. Guts

Ive said it before and I'll say it again.
Docs long bombs to anywhere as far out from the D50 are a waste of time.
Sure helps his stat for metres gained, but the team doesn't gain anything from them.
OK if he does it every now and then, but every @#$%&! time !!!

A few things must change.
Connection has gone missing and bombing it long has come back in vogue.

Some good posts from Keogh and BB in amongst the emotional. I agree with the sentiment that the issue commences in the midfield where we are too one paced. This gets exposed more on the bigger wider grounds hence why we play our best football at Marvel. It would not be an issue if our wingers were better. As stated Cottrell is probably the best but does not get involved enough. Without Martin, Honey or Cunningham at HF we lack some explosiveness and options that they provide and IMO playing Walsh as a HHF is a stop gap to cover this. At the start of the year I saw this year as a year of development and growth and if we made finals that would be a bonus. I wanted to go to games feeling a chance to win which I have to date and still do with the remaining games injuries notwithstanding. Yes I am pissed off with this loss. but losing always pisses me off, so I try to see the positives. From the live game discussion thread last night I thought we must be terrible. When I watched the first quarter replay this morning I was surprised. I thought we played OK. The second quarter was a grind and missed opportunities but we were being outnumbered at the ball which gets back to our one paced midfield. I see the game plan evolving and sometimes when new plans are implemented during a game and heat is applied the players revert to what they did in the past. We can tell when that happens by the number of times we go down the line.

Maybe they go slow and down the line to make it a contested ball game rather than risking things opening up and getting us exposed for the obvious lack of running power and pace?
That is why Voss is not shifting from us losing the contests we usually win. His gameplan ruined last night by failing to win the contests in the numbers we usually do.

ok so security staff need training in Australian discrimination and racial vilification law. and any closet racists and white suprematists weeded out.

Who needs the Foxtel commentary team when you've got Tommi.

Pros:

Cripps.
Walsh and McGovern pretty good.
SOJ did well when he came on.
Cerra, Kennedy and Cripps all laid a ton of tackles.

Cons:

Coach was pretty upfront about the chief problem. We didn't match their desire to contest and scrap and run into space.
Again we allowed the opposition to get behind our defence and score easy goals.
Also some terrible defensive turnover goals. Plowman twice.
Butchered some good scoring opportunities in the 2nd half.
Pretty much everyone outside of our core midfielders got beaten. Especially our flankers and wings.
Saad, Pittonet, Plowman, Owies, Young.

Either Harry is being mauled in marking contests or he's playing for frees all the time.

A lot of the players must have booked non refundable September holidays during the pre season.

when Walker pushed it back under…then got
up with the ball and kicked a goal…!

i know we were pox last night…but you can’t
compete against that…!
