Not much to cheer about tonight
Beaten by a far better side at this stage
Next to no winners across the ground
Skill errors all night
Pressure and tackling wasn’t good enough
Need to bounce back next week

We needed to win centre clearances to have a chance and we couldn’t manage it. Our goals were hard work from slow entries. Geelong got a lot of easy goals from quick entries and fast breaks from turnovers.

Reality check. They are a mature hardened team on their last roll of the dice given their collective age and the margin probably reflects the gap

Hate those cauliflower, especially history’s greatest ever free kick merchant, who got another 4 or 5 tonight - soft as butter- to add to his world record total.

Just home from the game.
Pretty disappointing night, never looked like it.
Fumbled right from the start.
Few players can hold their heads up after this, I have never seen so many turn overs. Newman had a shocker, as did Harry. Hayes stuffed up nearly all of his possessions.
We had enough of the ball but we just butchered it.
Geelong were too good and we played our worst game for the year.
I don't think there were any injuries.
The only good thing about tonight was Richmond losing to North.

I think the biggest and most obvious difference between the sides was how well Geelong set up their zone and and how well drilled they are compared to us. Also their pressure when we had the ball was relentless. I hate to say it but they are the best team I've seen this year and are going to be hard to beat which sickens me. I so desperately want their recruiting plan to fail and watch them fall off the cliff as age catches up with them.

But for us, we are a long way behind what is the benchmark right now.

Newman's disposal was horrendous tonight. As was Newnes. Hayes looked out of his depth, which was disappointing because he showed a bit when he got in the ground last week.

Cots did very little. Durds barely sighted and didn't take chances when he had them. Charlie exciting first half but faded. Harry destroyed by a 17 gamer.

Cripps average form continued along with most of his midfield mates. The midfield was dominated really.

Put all that together with a cheating maggot cauliflower umpire that wants to elevate himself to the next Razor Ray, and 5 goals ain't so bad in the end.

Pitto has to come back next week. Also LOB for Hayes. LOB may be soft as butter but he rarely misses a target. Hayes rarely hit one.

Learn from this one blues. Let's turn up strong for the giants

Frustrating as hell.

If there was a mistake to be made, we made it. Any chance of not playing the ball back into trouble? or taking the first option?

If there was a 50/50 ball that could bounce Geelong's way... it did.

If there was a 50/50 umpires call to be made... Geelong got it.

If Nafan Cheat Williamson was in the vicinity and he could @#$%&! us... he did.

I hate Geelong

Pretty much sums it up... Can close the thread.....

Two shocking decisions (Selwood high when gone in the Motlop tackle and Stocker HTB on the wing) resulted in goals... when we we had SOME momentum. Frustrating...

Add Harry's miss and Saad's mark, play on and turnover (goal I think) and the puff went out of the crowd and pretty much the players.

Go Blues

TDK had a bit of s shoulder issue in the 4th, but stayed on & kicked that nice goal so he should be OK.

I haven't looked at the stats but felt like I hardly noticed Weiters out there. Newey had a poor game but he's had a good season. We got pressured into a lot of mistakes by the better side, but there were so many times we just overpossessed or made bizarre decisions with the ball.

Seriously good opponent though. It's their flag to lose IMO

Our disposal was generally horrible all nite and we turned the ball over far too many times as a result.

Too many passengers. No one IMO played well for us tonite, maybe Charlie because he at least made the most of his opportunities.

Their Dekoning smashed Harry, and Harry also looked lazy and defeated all nite.

I hardly saw Weitering, but when I did, he looked lost and far from fit.....

Whilst I thought we could and should have beaten them tonite, Geelong are the real deal and they are the premiership favorites IMO.

I just don't know where we are at. My fear is we may fall in a heap from here and miss out on finals.....

Motlop impressive
Young a shocker
Hayes out of his depth
Harry invisible
Saad one of the few who GAF no matter what
Overuse of the ball to the max
5-6 Cats goals due to no defensive sweeper
Men against boys tonight
Lots of work to be done, hope Vossy lets ‘em have it

Young? Really? Killed many contests. Can’t do much about easy delivery.

Hayes? Rushed kicks, give me him over O’Brien every week. 1st game for us.

Best team in the comp, we lost by 5 goals. A lot of lessons learnt, ready for finals.

Cats can’t play any better than that.

I’m disappointed that we weren’t tougher/cleaner under pressure.
But I reckon we will learn heaps from that!
The games I’m really annoyed about are the losses to Collingwood and Richmond. And Gold Coast earlier in the year when we just didn’t show up to play.

I’m tempted to whinge about some dubious umpiring but what it came down to is one side made crucial skill and decision errors at pivotal moments and the other side didn’t.

That, and the fact that our bottom 6 last night comprised mainly so-called ‘senior’ players.

Too much publicity this week about the best forward lines playing each other.

Got ahead of ourselves and assumed it would just fall into place. That’s not how it works. Review the game and reset but these LWLWLWLW are starting to shit me.

Geelong are the best team in the comp by a far way at the moment
Last night was a true test.
It was finals football even though it wasn’t a final
You have less time to make a decision than a normal home and away game.
And some blokes got exposed
But it wasn’t a bad effort
Things can change quickly in 5 weeks
Geelong were excellent behind the ball last night
Even with no Stewart
They are harder this year around the contest
Close and Atkins are Wells gems
Best recruiter in the land
Our bottom 4 players arnt quite there yet or not good enough
We need more pace around the contest
Lose or break even in the clearences and we struggle
But compare this to the last 10 years and it’s a lot better

I thought Harry spent a bit to much time in the media this week.
They have a win everyone seems to be rock stars and then follow that up with a loss.
I think they should bunker down for the next 3 to 4 weeks

I don't think we were good enough but there were 5 things that should not have happened.
Stanley's uncontested mark amongst 4 blues in the opening minutes.
Hawkins uncontested ruck contest and goal
Selwoods dive on the boundary line and down field free
50 meter penalty against Doc..
Harry's dropped chest mark in goal square.

30 points right there

Geelong were harder at it
Thought Scott coached well….Blicavs on Cripps was a ripper
Blame it on the umpires at your peril
